So we just throw out tradition? I would be very disappointed if they changed it fo a single player. Not having them makes him stand out more, kinda like a badge of honor. Now, if the team votes to give them to all Freshman, then I'm with them. Combs and Slusher are also contributing. Much more quietly, but certainly helping to make a difference.

I agree with people saying stick with "tradition" no matter what. But, a frosh who is a starter is a different issue Vs frosh who move up and only get limited PT, if at all. IMO. :sssh:

If I am Frankfort, I drop a couple 1A schools and add two more higher class tough opponents to the schedule to get the team prepared for this type of game. That was a very good Frankfort team that Beechwood beat last night.

Actually, Frankfort's non-district schedule was pretty good.

 

Franklin County made it to the third round of the playoffs. So did Danville. Green County and Lexington Christian were ranked in 2A for much of the year. Rockcastle County is normally a solid opponent, especially for a Class A school, but they're in a down cycle right now.

Feiger is certainly a special case, but you either have a tradition and follow it or you don't. If you selectively apply the rules and traditions on a case by case basis, they are not rules or traditions at all. They become loose guidelines and that's no foundation for success. It's about TEAM and not individuals.

 

As I said, I'm good if the Team Captains vote to give them to ALL Freshman. I don't think the coaches should just do it because they feel one Individual deserves it. If you do, then you have Slusher and Combs who are contributing at a decent level as well. So, do you give to them too? If so, then what about Stringer? Not contributing at same level, but still contributing some. At that point, you have just changed tradition and individualized the Freshman team who just had a great season as a TEAM.

 

That said, If the team pulls off the win on Friday, I'm certain all of the Freshman will be sporting their Varsity Decals for the State Championship.

As I said "IMO", really don't care to much one way or the other, I'm more displeased at Moeller's change from their "traditional" uniforms than this, lol. BUT, you mentioned it's TEAM and not individuals, and what was used when they got rid of the little paws they gave out every week, yet you mentioned in a previous post not having the paws makes him stand out more.
