What if Kroger, Walmart or some other retailer bought these rights and the only place you could get these items were from them?

 

McKee Baking (Little Debbie) could pretty seamlessly pick up the lines. Distribution already in place and they are a company flush with cash.

 

I would rather the Unions and Hostess sit down TODAY and work this out and get these people back to work.

The popular brands will be bought up in bankruptcy court and sold to someone else, but as Jumper stated, it's too late for Hostess.

 

I really don't like these types of investment groups, a bunch of hedge fund people.

Well there's certainly the potential that the host organism wasn't healthy on its own accord...but the union certainly didn't do anything productive by their actions. (Unless striking their way out of a job is what you'd call productive.)

 

I don't know all the facts, but this seems on point. It's hard to imagine that the growing public consciousness about nutrition and obesity didn't do much to help the company that specializes in post-apocalyptic fat products. The union's decision sure doesn't make much sense on the surface, but with the company saying they wouldn't be opening their doors again even if the union reversed course seems to indicate this was inevitable. It's unfortunate, but I can't remember the last time I ate one of those things, and I'm all the better for it.

In a way, this could benefit Kentucky, as Flowers Foods has several facilities in Kentucky and produce many similar items under the Mrs. Freshley's banner.

 

I'm generally a union supporter, but this union seriously and stupidly overplayed its hand on this one. Let's hope future situations result in a more reasoned approach from all sides, with true compromise at the center of it all.

While there is part of that at play, those type products were pulled out of school vending machines decades ago, and companies would have had plenty of time to adjust. They're still common in workplace vending machines.

No more Twinkies? My first thought was, Tallahassee is gonna be pissed.

As long and Little Debbie is in business I'm not worried. Twinkies suck anyway.

I liked the Twinkies you could get that had a strawberry glaze in it, along with the cream. Never see them anymore, though.
