That's a great point. And no, they don't. But think about this...men have RULED our political landscape since it's inception. White males (in particular) have decided what direction the country goes in. Women have made great strides, but in no way are equally as represented as a % of the elected officials. If we want to keep putting women into those positions, they have to be respected, savvy, and produce results BETTER than men.

Relate. I have no problem with the pro-Life platform. But they need to be smart about it. There is NO ONE that I know that is "pro" abortion. Not one single person. It also grates when a men try to tell women about their bodies. IMO, get as far away from that line as possible. The other is the way that abortion is trotted out as being only a method of birth control. Again, simply not true. And of course, leave religion out of it, when speaking politically. I believe life begins at conception. However, I don't believe God intends that a victim of rape become pregnant, if that happens. They need to present the image that the Republican party woman is one who can be a single career woman, a smart woman, a working-mom, a single mom. They have not done a good job of courting female voters based upon the varying circumstances women in this country live under. We're not all wives. We're not all stay at home moms. MANY of us have (or had) struggled to put the food on the table for our kids. Quit painting the choices many of us have (had) to make, or choose to make, as anything but what the realities they are. The Republican Party is still clinging and presenting the issues for females as outdated as the 50's! We're not June Cleaver any more. We're Alice.

Is Romney at heart a RINO? Hadn't thought much about that until today.

I guess I question if the Republican party is really in trouble other than who they put up for election. I think most of us agree that a decent candidate would have had this election and it probably would not have been that close. Let's face it, each party screws up big time when they're in power long enough. Sometimes it doesn't take too long. People get antsy for change. The other party has to have that candidate ready. We've seen that it doesn't take a moderate. It takes a personality. Democrats found that out in 2000 and 2004. The republicans haven't learned that yet.

If there is one difference it is that they were one person: Teddy Roosevelt. The others were a party at one time or other beyond a person.

The GOP has been trying hard to take the hard-right platform, yet the pick the wrong candidate. In addition, I don't think most republicans are hard-right. They'd do better not being afraid of losing a hard-right voter, because I (personally) don't think the hard-right is going to vote any other way, unless they go Libertarian, or some such.

Did they really? Can you honestly say you remember all of McCain's positions in 2000? And if he was right of that in 2008 then he must have been left of center in 2000 because he was anything but conservative in 2008. And like I said it didn't matter what he was in 2008, he could have been Bill Clinton, he wasn't winning. Romney may have run a little right of Gov Romney but that isn't why he lost. He lost because he ran a poor campaign. I think there were plenty looking for a reason to vote for him and he just didn't give them that reason. Everyone can point to the 47% comment but the fact is no one was suppose to hear that but the people in that room. He never once said anything close to that in public.

I'm not buying this. McCain won the nomination 4 years ago and Romney this time. Those are 2 of the most moderate R's I can remember.
