Absolutely cannot wait to watch the Highlands 6th grade team play next year as 7th graders!

 

 

 

Highlands has a lot of talent not being utilized effectively IMO. No secondary break whatsoever, basic offense andone out of bounds play. The boys look like robots out ther worrying more about where they need to be on the floor then utilizing their ability to create and score. It's becoming tough to watch. WV has a nice team but they didn't get a good game from the Birds.

 

Schultz hit a couple big treys and the big kid was a load on the block. Brandon Finn led the Bluebirds, he plays hard and converted some nice baskets.

 

Possibly these two will see each other again in the finals.

What is wrong with this years team? After reading all the post, seems like they are not having that bad of a year.

I think they are having a good season so far! I am simply biased that's all.

Any updates on the Dayton Tourney?? What is the brackets looking like?

Highlands 6th grade lost their 4th game in a row on Sunday to Summit View 35-31 in OT. They are reeling and need to right the ship. Started off playing very well going 8-0 and now are 8-4 and got bounced by a far less superior team.

 

They play Newport next week and then get a rematch with Summit View after that.

Any updates on the Dayton Tourney?? What is the brackets looking like?

 

Revised brackets were sent to AD's & coaches...the tourney was postponed due to weather yesterday and therefore changes had to be made to the schedule. If your team is still in it you may want to check with your coach.

It is my understanding that in the sixth grade tourney Twenhofel and St. Joe are in the final of the winners bracket, with Twenhofel having beaten Campbell County and Turkeyfoot, and St. Joe having beaten Summitview and Walton to advance. Not sure what has happened in the losers bracket other than Summitview knocking Highlands out and Campbell County knocking Dayton out. Anybody got any more detail than that?

6th grade tourney at Dayton.... Twenhofel knocked off St. Joe. St. Joe awaits the winner of Summitview vs. Walton, and the winner of the losers bracket then gets Twenhofel.

Cheering on both teams to do well is the right thing to do. Making loud noises or yelling "Noonan" right before a 6th grader shoots a FT is ridiculous.

 

Saw this behavior with Connor 8th grade girls parents and current Ryle freshman girls parents. The trend I see is the better the team, the worse the parents. It's an entitlement to every call going their way. hissing the refs over a call when up 25. Making noise when your kid is shooting free throws. Unacceptable behavior. Just cheer your kid on. The kids take the cues from coaches and parents behavior and it breeds from there. Don't be that parent.

Is there a website that has game results and standings? The site that was posted earlier in this thread has a for sale sign on it.

Highlands 6th grade beat Newport 32-23 I believe. Brandon Finn was working hard tonight with a double double.

Highlands 7th led Newport by 3 at half and went on to win by 20+ using all 12 players to press the entire game and eventually wear down the Cats at their place.

 

Birds 8th grade led from start to finish to win by 12.

Highlands 6th grade destroyed Summit View 43-15 tonight. Tons of energy and really got after it. Birds improve to 11-2 on year.

 

Summit View hit a last second shot to win the 7th grade I heard. Tough loss for the 7th grade Birds.

 

Summit View won the 8th grade game by a bunch.

Highlands middle school is having a great season!
