Barker is an impressive HS player, big strong with good running instincts. Having said that I think he is the 2nd most important player on Conner's team. Fogle was the difference maker in this game. He didn't play the past two weeks and Conner's defense was... well unimpressive. His diving INT, TD run and his late game run on the reverse were the key plays in the game. He is one of those players that seems to make plays when you need him.

 

I am not familiar with who Conner plays in the playoff's, but if they play a good passing team they will be vulnerable. This game didn't show it obviously but the other games I've seen tells me that passing D is their soft spot.

 

CovCath was unable to adjust to the field conditions, until late in the 2nd quarter or the 2nd half. Their offense has been so pass oriented ( and Why not with Blake Bir) that it took some time to move to 80 percent run game. Add in the loss of Dressman early in the game, and have the game on Friday.

 

In no way making excuses, because the weather affected Conner just as much and they were able to adjust. I also think Conner came out with a chip on their shoulder, something to prove mentality and that showed early in the game.

 

Hopefully this is wake up call for the Colonels as they prepare for the playoffs.

You are wrong .... Without thinking about it too much .. Conner beat the CCH in 1996 in the playoffs. I also think there may have been another regular season win after that in either 97 or 98.

 

Conner also beat CC in 1999 .... 10 to 0 in the regular season.

 

I certainly remember that 1996 game, it made the front page of the Cincinnati Enquirer Sports Page the next morning. I believe it was a full color photo of Billy Samad running over a couple of Colonels.

Interesting comments about Barker. Remove him from the Conner team and watch what would happen. Fogle would get much more attention from opposing defenses and not be AS effective IMO. I think those two really compliment one another and make a great tandem. Just my two.

Yes, they did beat us in the playoffs in '96 - that was the worst case of players "looking past" a team that I have ever witnessed. The Cougars played hard and won that game outright.

 

Cov Cath beat Conner at Conner in '97 in an EXTRAORDINARILY muddy game - moreso than Friday' night's game.

 

I don't believe Cov Cath and Conner played in the '98 season.

You guys are funny.. 3 brawls? Not even close to being true. Hellbird got his feelings hurt when conner beat Cooper so he claims that a Conner player kicked a Cooper player in the head. Not true. There were no flags or elections in this supposed incident. Not sure what the other brawl is that you people are speaking of... Friday night was far from a brawl. Conner player defending himself and teammates from blatant attempts to go for injured players weak spots. Things got chippy, kids were tossed, not a brawl.. Maybe Santa will bring some of you guys a dictionary for Christmas, sounds like some need it. In the mean time, I'm sure you could Google search the definition of brawl and get back to us.

I was at the Conner Cooper game. There was no brawl. There wasn't even something that rose to the level of "altercation."
