October 16, 201213 yr Why are my comments ridiculous? Yes, I watched every pitch, did you? He had no AB's, but he certainly made several crucial decisions that had a negative impact on games & if you watched then I do not need to re-state/re-live them. I never once stated that Dusty had AB's nor did I say he drastically changed the line-up. However, since you brought it up how about replacing Stubbs in CF with Heisey at GABP where his speed is not that much of a factor in the smaller outfield OR batting Leake in front of Stubbs in the order in GM 4. My observations are my opinions and you certainly do not have to agree, but to call my post ridiculous is showing a lack of knowledge for the game IMO. Ridiculous. How many AB's did Dusty have again? He didn't completely change the lineup. Did you even watch? Those same guys that won all those games laid an egg in the postseason. Plain and simple. Did he forget how to manage after game 164? Please.
October 16, 201213 yr You are simply re- stating facts from my post (#42) the one you called ridiculous...and no, unfortunately you're not done wit it b/c Jocketty gave Baker a 2nd extension for all of us to enjoy. :ohbrother: Perfect example. When players produce managers look like geniuses. I'm done with it. It is clear quite a few are thinking with their hearts instead of their heads. Blaming a manager that had his team win 90+ games and 2-0 in the NLDS. Unreal.
October 16, 201213 yr Good for Dusty he definitely deserved to be hired back. However I will say the same thing about him as I am saying about Marvin who also just signed an extension. If Marvin does not get the team to the playoffs this year I think they need to let him go, and the same goes for Dusty if they for some reason fail to make the post season next year.
October 17, 201213 yr You continue to be wrong on Mick, so that's standard. You thought he should be fired during the rebuild as well. Mediocre coach??? I have never suggested that Mick be fired at anytime. He is the perfect coach for a program that really isn't ever going to go very far. Make it to the big dance most years, win 1 maybe 2 games if they are lucky and then off they go.

October 17, 201213 yr Under Walt Jocketty and Larussa, how many seasons did it take for the Cardinals to win in the playoffs and the WS? Jockety states he is looking for consistecny and that is why Dusty is back for 2 more seasons. He hung onto Larussa for his first few seasons when the Cards were finishing 3rd or 4th in the division, and look how that turned out. I am more than happy that Dusty is back. What I am more anxious about is what if any changes are made to the roster in this off season.

Sparky failed in 70, missed the playoffs in 71, failed in 72 and 73, missed the playoffs in 74, and finally won in 75.

But I also heard it announced that his entire coaching staff will proably remain intact. What does everyone think about that?
October 17, 201213 yr Nope, he's still an idiot. He is still an idiot, and Dusty Baker still cannot "finish".
October 17, 201213 yr He is still an idiot, and Dusty Baker still cannot "finish". Dusty can't finish? I don't recall seeing him during post season with a bat leaving guys in scoring position. Was that Dusty on 3rd base who made an error during game 3 that cost us the game? I think it's comical that there are cries of wanting Dusty gone when Reds baseball is respectable again.

I don't recall seeing him with a bat or a glove either, but he is the captain of this ship that sank spectacularly in the last three games. I assume he has made the decisions about the lineup and batting order, so he does bear the responsibility. I don't know what you're implying as to complaints "when Reds baseball is respectable again"?
October 18, 201213 yr I heard someone call Walt Jocketty, "One of the best baseball minds in the game". Just solidifies my stance, with this renewal, that Baker is a good manager. It kills me how we see praise for Jocketty but criticism for Baker, when Jocketty clearly supports Baker.
October 18, 201213 yr I don't ever remember hearing people call Bobby Cox a choker, it was always the Braves players that choked in the playoffs. Don't see how the Reds and Dusty are anyh different.
