October 15, 201213 yr Should NEVER happen. This team should be great and something is holding us back..
October 15, 201213 yr I say they win six games. You aren't a good team if you lose to the Fins and Browns back to back. Hard not to agree with that.
October 15, 201213 yr Do we miss Benson? I'm not sure the Law Firm is going to hit that 1,000 mark that he did three years in a row.
October 15, 201213 yr Bengals are terrible and it all starts with the guy under center. Dalton looks awful.
October 15, 201213 yr Bengals O has taken a step backwards. OL seems shaky. Dalton looks rattled. RB is a push at best, WR's, well AJ Green is a stud, other than that none of them are a #2 WR. Gresham, while seemingly a top physical talent seems to missing something. Let's keep in mind who they have played. Probably not the best defenses in the league. However, after watching some of the other games, how many really good teams are out there? Not many.
October 15, 201213 yr Author It has been better since '03, but at this point, it should be much better than what it is. I know that their can be ups and downs, but if you look at the teams with solid ownership, general management, etc., there is typically more success on a consistent basis. I'm not sure that the Chiefs and Browns are franchises that I would aspire to compare myself to. But if you want to the Chiefs have the same number of playoff appearances as the Bengals in the timeframe that you referenced. The reason why I brought those teams up are because for some reason people act like if Mike Brown would hire a GM it would automatically make things better. Just having a GM does not make things automatically better. That is just a fall back for people to go back to their same old stuff that they say after losses. Right now Mike Brown actually has put a young talented team together, which still does have a bright future. They simply loss yesterday, it sucks yes. However we are seeing it more and more this year. Green Bay losing to the Colts, Pats to the Cardinals and Seattle, Pittsburgh to Tennessee and Oakland. It is the NFL and is hard to win every week even against teams you are suppose to beat. That is why I defended the Bengals last year, because even though they didn't beat a winning team last year. They won all the games they were suppose to, and that is still hard to do on a weekly basis. Even good teams lose games like this. Well sucks for the Bengals though is that with as tough as their schedule is this year, they basically had no choice but to win those games this year. So now that they are losing those games, it really hurts their chances of the playoffs.
October 15, 201213 yr Author Bengals are terrible and it all starts with the guy under center. Dalton looks awful. I can't disagree. With Palmer I defended him because of predictable play calling, and with having receivers who will run the right routes, and short arm catches. Dalton has an OC who will mix it up from time to time, and a receiver in Green who will go catch everything. Then his other receivers do actually run good routes and are at the right spots. The only thing I will say in defense of Dalton and his poor play is as SSC said earlier, and I admit he was right now. They need to improve their #2 receiver and I think should give Marvin Jones a chance there.

However, after watching some of the other games, how many really good teams are out there? Not many. The one and only good thing right now, is the AFC as a whole basically sucks this year. When you look at the AFC East the only team you can see having a good record and making the playoffs fore sure are the Patriots. In the AFC South the only team for sure will be the Texans. In the AFC North the only team for sure is the Ravens. Then in the West this is nothing for sure, because you can count on the Chargers to lose games they are not suppose to too. So realistically you could see both wild card spots going to 9 and 7 teams or even and outside shot as an 8-8 team. So the Bengals still have a chance but it is much harder in the next 10 games. With this harder schedule they have to go at least 6 and 4 in the last 10 games. It is possible, but will be hard and is almost a must win this coming Sunday night.
October 15, 201213 yr 2nd week in a row that there was poor clock management by Marvin Lewis. The Bengals have gone as about as far as they are going to go under Lewis..If you are satisfied with 7 and 9 or 8 and 8 then stick with him otherwise it is time to go in another direction.

Paul Brown has been rolling over in his grave for 20 years, wondering how the offspring of the greatest mind in football can screw things up so badly...

I know I am perfectly fine if Marvin is not back next year.
October 18, 201213 yr Looking ahead, weeks 9 and 10 could get really ugly with the Broncos and Giants back-to-back. Playing in the Jungle doesn't really scare other teams.
