While James Bolden (Holmes) is not on this list right now, I believe he will be if the list is "re-made" at the end of the season. I also think Tobler (Cov Cath) will be closer to the 5 spot by seasons end. And, just my opinion, Schulte will have a better season than McDonald at New Cath.

Outside of Campbell, McDonald has the best offensive game of the bigs in NKY. Not only can he score in the low post, back to the basket, but the kid has an excellent mid range game. Schulte is limited on offense and his post moves aren't even close to McDonald's nor can he shoot it like him.

I think Bolden will end up on the list by the end of year. He has the most upside of any guard in the 9th region. He is only going to get better, just needs to add some strength.

With Campbell, Mcdonald, and Maniacci in the top 5 I just don't see Tobler cracking the top 5 especially when you got guards such as Hatton and Ruthsatz.

I think Newcath is the clear cut 1 given what they return followed by Cooper at a close 2. Newcath's size will be hard to match up with.

As for the players the list looks pretty good however my top 5 would be:

1. Campbell

2. Hatton

3. McDonald

4. Ruthsatz

5. Maniacci

Then the rest.

Newcath should be #1 but they aren't "clear cut #1" by any means. They will have their hands full against teams that want to play uptempo and put pressure on their guards. Beuter and Seibert don't handle the ball well against pressure and they tend to force shots. Their front court also isn't good in an uptempo setting.

1. Brandon Hatton- 6'3" Jr. (Dixie Heights)

2. Antonio Campbell- 6'9" Sr. (Holy Cross)

3. Nick Ruthsatz- 5'10" Jr. (Covington Catholic)

4. Michael Bueter- 6'1" Sr. (Newport Central Catholic)

5. Louis Maniacci- 6'8" Sr. (Cooper)

6. Drew McDonald- 6'6" Soph. (Newport Central Catholic)

7. Samuel Hemmerich- 6'4" Sr. (Conner)

8. Christian McClendon- 6'1" Sr. (Holy Cross)

9. Darius Meiman- 6'1" Sr. (St. Henry)

10. Zack Tobler- 6'5" Sr. (Covington Catholic)

My 10 and I will leave out Campbell because I have no clue what day he will be at HC and what day he will not. He's #2 if I count him.

1. Hatton

2. Ruthsatz

3. Bolden

4. Tobler

5. McDonald

6. Louis M

7 - 10 would include any of the following in any order

McNeil

Palmer

Mayes

Meiman

McClendon

If Campbell is back at HC I predict they should be preseason number 1. Realize they lost some key senior leadership but this years team will be more athletic and I think will be tough to guard.

No way HC can be #1 in the region when they are the #3 team in their own district.

So what happens if they slow the ball down and get it inside? When you have 2 post players above 6"5'' who are the main focus of your team I would hope any decent coach would realize that and get the ball to them.

Pangallo will be at the 1 spot followed by Beuter at the 2, Siebert 3, McDonald/Schulte 4 and 5. Although Pangallo will be young, only a soph, he is quicker than just about anyone in the 9th region. He arguably has the most upside of any guard besides Bolden in the sophomore class. They may have turnovers and may not handle pressure well but who is going to stop them down low consistently. If Newcath takes good shots and uses their advantage down low teams in the 9th aren't going to struggle stopping them. They are the clear cut #1 starting the season because they return the most and have 4 proven starters. Yes, Cooper has a great lineup with McNeil transferring in, Maniacci a sr, and a couple other good guards and Hawthrone (sp?) but they are yet to be proven. I would even give the coaching edge to Sullivan, because I think he does one of the best jobs in the 9th however going into the season and based off returning players I think you have to go with NewCath.

I love Tobler's play but he is nowhere near the offensive ability of McDonald nor Maniacci. The edge in that department goes to McDonald. Tobler hustles hard and is a kid you can get the most out of however, he still struggles using his left hand and his low post moves are average. I just don't see him putting up numbers like McDonald or Maniacci this year. Tobler will give great defensive effort but I just don't see him putting up top 5 type of numbers other than rebounding.
