Would you be an NFL replacement ref?

Featured Replies

Given the scrutiny these guys have been under would you do it for what they're getting paid? I'm not sure but I heard some where around 50k for the season. Would you do it, these guys are getting hammered but just about every one that mentions football.

Money sounds great considering the job, but I'm not sure it's worth it.

I would, they're not here permanently so they don't have to be good. It's worth the money for the few weeks and you will always be able to say you ref'd an NFL game.

I'd do it in a heartbeat. I heard it was around 150K for the season.

Maybe I missed the 1 in front of the 50.

YES, Absolutely.

Watching this game. It kills me how many plays are reviewed going out of bounds when there's 150 foot wide field to work with.

Most of these guys will make a lot more in a short amount of time. I don't blame them one bit for doing it, as I would do it as well.

Sure, I'd do it. Make a lot of money for some short term scrutiny, and nobody remembers you once you're gone.

Yessir!!!!! I'd shine!!!!

I don't know all of the rules either. I'd be the crew chief because I am so well spoken.

Haha not if you're on my crew, I get complimented by women for how well I annunciate. It's funny because when ever I hear the word annunciate I think of the Jeff Foxworthy skit about Nascar and Jeff Gordon.

My buddy told me his father in law had an opportunity and declined. I know I would have given the old college try.

For what reason?

My best friend that refs high school games around here has a guy that he refs with that was brought up to be a replacement referee. He is also an OVC official but the kicker of it all is that he lost all of his OVC games (and accreditation) to do the NFL games. Along with the salary they get free air travel, free hotel, a per diem, and some additional play money. He had the Jets/Bills in Week 1. Not sure about this past week.

Yea... I'm still waiting on the call...:thumb:
