September 19, 201213 yr Does he have aspirations to be a pro ref one day? Or maybe an upper level D-1 ref? I can't speak for this guy, but most do not. A lot of the HS refs just do it as a side job... you show up an hour before kickoff and do your thing. These NFL guys it is a 2-3 day ordeal.
September 19, 201213 yr Most of the NCAA conferences told their refs if you leave don't come back. That is why you see so many from the lesser leagues, etc. On Mike & Mike yesterday mornign they didn't make it seem that way. They made it seem like the "replacement officials" knew that there wasn't a long term deal in it for them, so they didn't waste their time. Maybe they just didn't elaborate and it was really the BCS conferences putting their foot down as you said.

Said they had a curfew of 6pm the night before a game.

Said they had a curfew of 6pm the night before a game. I believe they have to get up there 24+ hours in advance to go over film, rules, etc.
September 19, 201213 yr No way I would do it. Some things are just not worth the grief. Besides, anything that prolongs this agony is not good.
