Really, other than NCC and Beechwood being down I would say 2012 is a pretty normal year.

If Elder beats Highlands, that will have no impact on them winning another state title.. No other 4A team in KY can play with them..

IMO yes...however CCH may get them and the undefeated season may not even be a topic of discussion by late October when they meet Elder.

Two years ago, Connor and Cooper would not have been on the radar as elite programs. HHS and CCHS are still basically at or near the high standards of previous years. I still assert that Boone and Ryle are feeling the long term effects of the talent pool being thinned by Cooper. Different schools are having good years, and others are not. Unless you get a continuous flow of tuition students in your program, you are going to have some dry years, and some really good years. Other than NKy 6A being a little down, I don't perceive much of a difference.

Those are two big programs which are down. Pretty much every year you can count on a serious playoff run by both of those teams. For an area that has routinely placed three teams in the championship any given year has one legit threat this year. Parity = yes while Down= yes.

However, Conner did get the benefit of dropping to 5A, where as Boone and Ryle did not. Boone especially was hurt because they only had 712 males after realignment. I believe the magic number for 6A classification is 700. Yet, they are expected to compete with schools that have twice their male enrollment (T and X have close to 1400, Scott about 1250). Dixie is in the same situation as well.

I don't think there is a hard number for any district. I think they rank all of the schools and then split them into 6 even groups. Yes, any school in 6A is up against it with T and X.

Smallest 32 football playing schools were put in 1A. 32 largest football playing schools were put in 6A. All other schools were split up evenly in 2A-5A.
