Couch, Lorenzen and Towles

Featured Replies

How long did Couch last in the league? At this point in time we can ONLY base the discussion on HS. I feel as though Lorenzen and Couch were legends growing up but maybe they the same could be said for Towles I'm not 15 watching him play like I was the other two. I know Couch put up some sick #'s in HS as did Lorenzen but Towles put up some CRAZY #'s especially in big games. People may say well ya he had great #'s but a lot of them were rushing and that's true. It's also true that the QB's job is to read the defense and it seems as though he did a pretty darn good job of that. I'm giving Towles the HS edge because of his speed and athletic ability.
What did Lorenzen do in the league? And that's not the thread anyway.....Couch by alot!!!

Lorenzen, PT then Couch.

I saw Lorenzen throw accurately 40 yrds off his back foot running th3 other way. Also saw the 300lber tuck and sprint up the middle 40 yrds at an unbelievable speed. His mechanics in HS weren't pretty but he got it done.

PT was the prototypical QB with his frame. He has a cannon as well and deceptive wheels. His numbers were very impressive and he didnt have the same type weapons JLO had so I would say its neck and neck with JLO seeking out the victory because of the aforementioned and also due to his uncanny size at the position.

Both will go down as the best 2 QB's to ever put on a Highlands uniform.

Did you see Tim Couch play in high school??

This one is tough. I think I would put Couch ahead of Lorenzen, with Towles very close behind if we are talking about HS career only.

It was a question not a shot....... but you showed your unbiased loyalty, good for you. I hope you and Couch are happy together.

Why? You can't enter this kind of debate, throw out some names and not provide any explanation.

Couch, Lorenzen, Towles. Couch 1st, and by a lot.

Why? That's like saying Jeep, Toyota, Honda..........

1. you can't tell me what I can and can not do

2. The question did not ask why, just asked us to rank them

Couch beat Highlands once and lost once. He had the worse talent of the 3. That being said, he was ISSUE Today National Player of the year...that puts him 1 in my book. Jared had the strongest arm of the three, Couch may have been the best athlete, Towles just seems to have that "it" intangible to take over and lead his team when his team needed him. Tough thing is, we saw Couch lead a decent team over Highlands, we saw Jared beat Male and lose by 1pt to Moeller, who would be D1 runner-up that year. Pat never really got that big win, and that's just a scheduling thing. This is like taking a Porsche, Ferrari, or a Lambourghini. Depends on your taste.

Accuracy: Couch, Towles, Jared

Arm strength: Jared, Towles, Couch

Decision making: Towles, Couch, Jared

Athleticism: Couch, Towles, Jared

Fun to watch: Jared and a tie between the other two

What did he do his Sophmore year against a nationally ranked Cincy St.X team?? I believe he came in when the first team qb got hurt early in the game and upset them...To me that is a huge win your first time into a varsity game...lol

How many passes did he throw that game? Pat was tremendous, but I'm talking about when they were "The Man" so to speak and their team wasn't favored.

I give Couch number one. He did it at Leslie County (which I'm proud of) and those other ones didn't. :thumb:

Obviously you didn't see Tim Couch play in high school....taking nothing away from the two you mentioned, but Couch was in a league of his own with not much help around him....put Couch at Highlands for 4 years, you would have seen some even sicker numbers!!!!!

Agree with this! I'm a HHS guy so I would love to say one of them. However, the game I saw couch play against HHS in the playoffs, it was like watching an expert play the game at kings island where they have to knock the lil fuzzy guys down. He would consistently hit his guys between the numbers on all types of passes. They caught about half of them. HHS won in a blow out, but if his receivers could catch, it would have been a little closer.

He was good!! Still love the others though. Would put the HHS guys neck and neck because they both brought their own strengths to the position.

Is this really even a debate?

1. Couch

2. pick one

I've seen all three and I think Towles and Couch are pretty close but Lorenzen was out of this world. All one has to do is look at the state records that Lorenzen owns, which he did playing half the game in most cases.

What records would that be? I couldn't find one stat that Lorenzen was ahead of Couch in let alone #1 in the state.

Couch, Towles, Lorenzen

All three were/are very talented. Lorenzen's big splash in high school and college was very influenced by his size though (pun intended). Keep in mind that any comparison of Towles to the other two at this point, though, has to be made in the absence of all NFL experience and virtually all college experience. I think Towles, in all likelihood, could be a bigger player than either Couch or Lorenzen at this point.
