There are a lot of programs that would have tried to work something out, appeals, etc. Tremendous talent, half a brain, it's not the first time an elite athlete has done this. AND, he will still eventually get his payday, more in a year than most of us earn in a lifetime....

August 10, 201214 yr 4chs i agree he is amazing to watch!! Very stupid on his part. Could cost him millions was a favorite for the hiesman and dont forget about the rest of the team. Really hurts LSU chances of even winning SEC west.

August 11, 201214 yr With Mathieu gone, LSU could be in a bit of trouble in the secondary. The rest of their cornerbacks are freshman with the exception of just one so while they may be talented at that position they will be young. Some of the more veteran WRs and offenses in the league will take advantage of that until they get the reps in during the season. On a side note, it looks like Mathieu will be transferring to McNeese State based on what I was reading in the Twitter-verse.

I'm kind of surprised by the lack of depth there, it being LSU and all.

August 13, 201214 yr I disagree. You don't take the most explosive player in the country off a team and it not effect them. LSU is DB U but he made plays in the return game and is as good as making plays around the ball as I've ever seen in college! Somewhere our man Alabama Larry is looking down as one happy camper!

For all of Matheiu's explosiveness, the guy is what 5'9", 160 lbs? The NFL looks for reasons not to draft guys, looks for reasons not to award solid contracts... him returning would maybe give him another feather in his cap. Though you could argue the damage is already done.
