June 22, 201214 yr Never said you couldn't be. But for me it takes a little more than this to be "disgusted". I think it's nice that people want to give her their money. I just wish as a society at a time when the economy is in the crapper that we would be willing to give our money to meaningful things as opposed to people who are mistreated on videotape. Want to see what is wrong with our country? Look no further than George Zimmerman's defense fund and this woman's vacation fund. Good gestures? Sure. I'd love to see more people who are as unfortunate(or even worse off) given the opportunity to be fortunate out of the kindness of people's hearts. I'd hate to hear anyone who donated to Zimmerman or this woman complain about giving to their government.

And the absence of class, the absence of moral standards, the absence of compassion, of common decency... And I will go out on a real limb here and say that much of that can be traced directly to an absence of parents who give a rip.

Especially an older woman by a bunch of idiot kids. My stance on the money is clear but in no way is her receiving that money more disgusting than how she was treated. Nobody deserves that kind of treatment.
June 22, 201214 yr I agree. But I think that part of the reason this donation keeps growing is that people can see how this will make a difference and change her life. Other organizations that you and PP mentioned are just that to the donator, an organization. Stay tuned because part 2 of this story will about how this bus monitor is doing after all the donations, her vacation, maybe new house/car/retirement fund. People will take an interest because they know they were part of it, as their money went right to her....not to an organization. Call me a pessimist, but I wouldn't surprised if part 2 of this story is how this "donation" was all just a big fraud and the guy/gal who started it is living on some island we never heard of for a while. But, hopefully I'm wrong and part 2 includes her donating a lot of this money to others. Or starting some kind of fund to help stop bullying etc.

June 22, 201214 yr Maybe it's been said already but I think the response says more about the level of bullying in this country. I would say everyone one on here has had a personal experience with bullying. If not towards themselves, then toward a family member or friend. I think that's why it struck such a nerve.
June 22, 201214 yr Re: The Video I really wish I could say this surprises me and isn't the norm, but that's just not true. This is just how a LOT of kids are nowadays... It was like that when I was growing up, though not quite as bad as it is now. My little sister's generation was pretty rough, and it seems like things just keep getting worse. I don't really know if there's a solution. You can say good parenting, but we all know that not every parent is going to crack down on their kids like they should. For the most part, parents are completely ignorant to this side of their child to begin with. The actions of these kids were thoroughly disgusting and I hope someone takes charge and does something (although not necessarily the thousands of harrassing phone calls the kids got because their phone numbers got posted online). Re: The Donations I don't really see a problem with people chipping in a few bucks apiece to show their support for this woman. Just because there are more deserving causes doesn't mean she isn't deserving of this kind gesture herself. Re: The BGP Plan to Make Money If we're going to do something similar to make a quick payday, count me in! I'll assist in PP's complete and utter emotional destruction for such a cause. :lol:
