Making The Bus Monitor Cry

It's not her fault. She didn't set it up.

I'm not blaming her at all. Please don't think I am. This is more or less my disgust with how we act as a society sometimes.

I want in.

I think if we can raise 300k a few of us could split it.

If it's in my name let me take my family to Myrtle Beach for a week and then I'll take good care of my second family. :D

God love 'ya. Angst ridden....you NEED a vacation. :D

For the record, people make fun of me all the time (see P&R). I can make do with a grand....I'm able to get some awesome industry discounts so I can save my contributors some serious cash. Just click on fundrockmomsvacation.com to contribute. Donation's as low as .02 accepted...because I know everyone always wants to give me their .02. :D

I didn't need one until I saw this story.

I guess people in America are donating to the cause because they are tired of how youth can behave. Would you want your mother or your child's grandma treated this way while making $15,500 per year?

Nope. But I would be embarrassed if my mother or grandmother received 300K and rising in donations for a vacation when there are people/families/kids who won't eat tonight. People/families/kids living in a shelter tonight because they have nowhere else to go. People/families/kids who once had good jobs and good homes and now have nothing. Those are the people who need donations to live. Not a vacation. Of all the things to donate for....even Make A Wish foundation or a cancer charity and this is where 300K goes to? Yes, it grates me.

It wouldn't bother me as it's not like she's rich. There's a reason she's still working this kind of job despite her age and physical problems. Something struck a nerve with people and they're showing their support. Shoot, I hope they double it.

Is that what we are going to start doing for every old person bullied? I have a mother-in-law with thick skin who could use some charity. I can get her on a bus with some bad kids and a smartphone if that's how we can get 300K real quick.

Make a Wish or a cancer charity would be a great place for money to be donated to. I understand your comment's on hunger and shelter too.

Who said anything about starting a trend? It just struck a nerve with people. The next time probably won't. I'm one for letting people spend their money the way they want. $335,000 last I heard. Good for her.

She makes $15k a year. She can use the money.

And like I said...it's a free country. People can donate to whatever they want to donate.

And in this same free country I can be disgusted with it as well.

I agree. But I think that part of the reason this donation keeps growing is that people can see how this will make a difference and change her life. Other organizations that you and PP mentioned are just that to the donator, an organization.

Stay tuned because part 2 of this story will about how this bus monitor is doing after all the donations, her vacation, maybe new house/car/retirement fund. People will take an interest because they know they were part of it, as their money went right to her....not to an organization.

Never said you couldn't be.

But for me it takes a little more than this to be "disgusted". I think it's nice that people want to give her their money.

Makes me sick. And full of rage... The absence of fear in kids is not a good thing.
