Does this mean Coach Rash will go next? I guess Krumps and Max will be going soon from their schools. Who else has been around awhile? I do not understand this comment.

If it were me, I would probably get out and ask what is going on. I would not just decide to let a coach go without some information. The way I see it is this, players play, parents cheer and coaches coach. There were players this year that wanted things their way. I am sure some were urged on by their parents. I wonder how many times Krumps has had players come to him and be told this is who should be playing and where??

 

After BW lost to CCH in the district seed game they were back to school before the JV game was over. There was one parent who walked down by the stands with his player/son, turns and and starts walking back toward the school as he tells his son he is an idiot he should not be coaching. BW lost 10-0 with a least part of the suggested lineup.

 

I will say this, Bob may not be the easiest to get along with at times. He understands what he wants to happen on the field and will speak his mind if he feels you are not doing it. He can be abrasive at times, can't we all. He is not going to be a coach to pat Junior on the head and tell him it is OK you missed the ball or a sign. He is going to get in his butt. This offends some people. I have never had an issue with this when it was needed. The kids have to learn to handle criticism some where.

 

My son played for Bob for 5 seasons. I have not always agreed with some of the decisions. It did not make me want to call the AD, principal or any of that. If I had a lingering issue I would talk with him. I don't understand why people won't talk with the person they have an issue with. Bob being let go will go far beyond what happens between the lines during a game or practice.

 

I think Meyerhoff's coaching style is either one that you like or really dislike, when playing for him. I had a brother play for the guy and they won a National Championship and let's just say there were a lot of kids; as well as parents that did not and still do not care for the guy. I think he is one of those guys that you either really like (which a lot of people do) or you just can't stand. You can't argue with the guys record and coaching, but there are other things that factor in. One of which is how he relates and deals with people. I know based on my experience from that summer, my kid would not play for the guy.

And yes, at some point in time, Krumps will be gone, Rash will be gone, Mueller will be gone ... I know that is stating the obvious to some extent but it is fact.

 

There are always going to be parents who aren't happy with every team. I guarantee you there are parents at Highlands and Trinity who don't like some things that have happened with their kids. I think one takeaway from this is if you like the coach, don't let the dissatisfied take over. Speak up and make it clear you do like the coach and you think he is doing a good job. Explain what you like and give a different opinion on why the dissatisfied are saying what they are saying and why they are wrong. The squeaky wheel gets the oil.

 

That being said, from what I have heard about the situation at Beechwood, it isn't just a couple or a few parents that felt it was time for a change. The impression I get is it is nearly all. I would like to hear if there were any parents that spoke up in defense of coach. This wasn't a hush hush situation. Read back through Beechwood game threads. There are many posts about the lack of chemistry. Personally, I felt early in the season that there was a pretty good chance this could be Meyerhoff's last year. That was based on the past couple years as much as this year and it was about the chemistry in the program.

 

To answer cooperstown's questions above, it isn't a one year situation. There have been dissatisfied parents for the past 2-3 years and momentum built in this direction. There are more than a couple kids who would start for most baseball teams in N. Ky. that have chosen to stop playing baseball and it wasn't just about playing time. There were key players on this year's team who had to be talked into playing baseball this year.

 

And as I posted above and Coachg and bjnku also state above, Meyerhoff is an excellent coach who will win games whereever he goes. Your kid will be a better baseball player if he is coached by Bob Meyerhoff. Best of luck to him going forward.

Seems like the bane of many high school coaches is the interpersonal dealings and relationships with parents; more so than W's and L's, or their ability to coach and develop kids. Of these

three elements, Coach M did two very well, and was very bad at the third. When Coach Mullins went to St. Henry, I predicted that this would be Meyerhoff's Waterloo. BW did not have their typical talent, a rough mix of senior chemistry and parents, and Mullins was not there to buffer things.

 

Just a curious observation; this may be one of the first BW baseball threads that Spartan79 (I believe) has not weighed in. You seem to be intimately involved with the program,

From what I've been told by parents of recent players; yes, it was definitely time and overdue. It's never good when someone describes it as a virtual mutiny. Although my friends

support the decision, they are extremely embarrassed and dissappointed with how the BW parents have handled this.
