Shannon Turner resigns at Cooper High School

Featured Replies

Put the blame on whoever you want but the previous coach decided to leave. The coach was not fired or asked to step down. The coach left to take a position at another school.

Last years team finished dead last in the 9th region. They finished 9 wins and 22 losses. They finished 3 wins and 14 losses in their last 17 games and lost those games by an average score of 59-40. They gave up more points than anyone in the 9th region.

It was time for a change. Hopefully the new staff can get the Cooper program going in the right direction.

That's because the molding process was not yet completed. We are Cooper

Coach Turner was a very polite and pleasant person. She wanted to be a friend to the girls instead of a coach. The team was more of a social club instead of a basketball team. There is no problem in that, but I think enough people didn't want that. So she moved on. Good luck to the Lady Jags. They have a very hard district to deal with.

Can a Mod please shut this thread down? Coach Turner hasn't been the coach at Cooper since early summer. She doesn't continue to need to take the abuse that people keep hurling her direction. To JustADad, she IS a very polite and pleasant person. She was a good coach and didn't run a social club. It's Coopers loss that they couldn't realize just how good they had it! The new staff does the exact same things that Coach Turner did. They all were trying to accomplish the same thing.

You are the one that reopened to the thread. It was dead for three weeks. You started it up again.

They only thing that you said that I agree with is to ask the mod to shut this thread down and that Coach Turner is a very polite and pleasant person. But you are the one who keeps mentioning her and her staff when replying to this thread. As well as bashing parents. Weather you like to believe it or not it was a social club. It's OVER so let it go.

O'h crud. I knew I knew the name when I read it on twitter a few days ago. She was the first Cooper Girl's coach. I am so sorry to hear this.

Oh man, that stinks! I hope her poor children are doing okay, what a lousy time of year to lose your Mom (not that there is ever a good time for it to happen).

@BB8, thanks for sharing and linking to this to help provide context -- God Bless her family and survivors; may they be warmed by a lifetime of great memories.

She was always good with us. I was so pleasantly surprised to see her at Walton when we were doing football. Always willing to help us with whatever we needed. She will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of the schools, family and staff that she touched.

Yes.

Rest in Peace Coach Turner.
