I am not aware of any contact but I just heard a teacher was fired because of a possible inappropriate communication with a student. Im sure this will take off. I can confirm though that a teacher was fired on Friday.

Okay, I am going to edit the title of this thread because it is not my intention to mislead or overstate the case.

Ok no confirmation yet she has been fired but i would assume its imminent from what I am hearing.

Good luck getting a straight answer on the record here.

If a female teacher gets "let go/fired" from Highlands anytime soon we can work backwards and figure it out.

I realize many schools want to hide this kind of thing because they want everyone to believe their children are safe at school but in my opinion schools are better off parading the perpetrators head around on a stick and screaming to everyone we take this kind of thing serious and we will make a blatant example of you.

2 questions

A. Why have the teacher/student issues become so prevalent nationally lately?

B. Where were these teachers when I was in school?

Social media and cell phones. Private access to kids is scary. Keep an eye on them parents.

RE, I agree that is how the teachers are getting more private access. Additionally, that same social media (and more media in general - 24 hour news stations) are why we hear so much more about it. So to answer Mex question A., it is two fold.

On B, anyone's guess. I think the predators were always there but like RE pointed out they didn't have as much private access 10, 20, 30 years ago and if it did happen it wasn't nearly as publicized as it is today.

Apparently a teacher was fired on Friday. Your forum title is what some students were being told today when they asked where their teacher was.

High school, middle school? I would hope there would be some type of announcement to the parents but I kind of doubt it.

The teacher resigned before being fired is what my daughter told me today. I still dont think she is out of the water just yet depending on what actually took place. I do know she is no longer employed at Highlands High School.

Technology makes it easier to occur. Technology is the reason they are getting caught. A technology entrapment defense is right around the corner.

I hope that means guru does not have to change the title of the thread again.
