April 30, 201214 yr Thought this might be a good place to get some conversation started about the Derby. I personally haven't done any research on the horses running yet (not that it even matters when I do). I plan on taking a look later this week and making a few bets. Anyone else have any opinions so far? Thought it woudl be fun for people to post their picks/bets, as well as fun Derby traditions and etc.
April 30, 201214 yr I like Alpha. Had an absolutely awful trip in the Wood and still nearly beat Gemologist. Second race off a long layoff and bred to love the distance. Waiting to see the draw on Wednesday, but thinking he will be anywhere from 12-1 to 15-1.
April 30, 201214 yr I have no idea what I am going to bed or who the favorite is but we always go down to River Downs. We tailgate and make a day of it.
April 30, 201214 yr I like Hansen and Union Rags, Dullihan will be there however, has not done well on the dirt only poly track and turf. I think this will be a good derby not a real clear favorite in the house. April 30, 201214 yr I'm going to take Hansen. I'm using my years of betting acumen culled from conversations of horse owners, trainers and other greats. I'm picking him because he's a white horse. And, to justify my pick, all my advisors tell me that's as good a bet as any when it comes to betting the Derby.
May 1, 201214 yr p Creative Cause. Maybe too dumb to win but should be in the money. I hope this isn't a determining factor (for an owner). I am going to Turfway on Saturday to bet a few shekels on Hansen (the horse). Hoping Hansen (the owner) doesn't concoct some prank to attract additional attention to himself.

May 1, 201214 yr After four years of living in Louisville, it's looking like this is going to be the year I finally make it. I'm pretty excited.
