April 23, 201214 yr Keep making excuses for him. "Mentally ill" is a cop out. In the real world, mentally ill or not, you go to jail when purposely injure someone. If you are proven to be mentally ill you go to a psych ward. Unless the rules have changed.
April 23, 201214 yr But hey, he's mentally ill so lets just get out of his way and let him do whatever he wants and if God forbid someone gets in his way and he attacks them, then let's give him 2 games off and let him get back to being a psycho with carte Blanche. What a joke. And this post shows how you clearly miss the point of the whole conversation. Go back to your Cubs.
April 24, 201214 yr Guilty by reputation. The fact that Harden was hit in the head is the problem. Had it been his shoulder nobody would care. He shouldn't have been throwing an elbow to begin with. What was the purpose, other than to hurt someone?
April 24, 201214 yr He shouldn't have been throwing an elbow to begin with. What was the purpose, other than to hurt someone? smh....didn't realize I was validating his elbow. Guess that's what I get for looking at a situation and seeing more than Ron the thug and animal. My fault.
April 24, 201214 yr smh....didn't realize I was validating his elbow. Guess that's what I get for looking at a situation and seeing more than Ron the thug and animal. My fault. There might be more to Ron Artest than the thug and animal. But in this play there was nothing but Ron the thug/animal.
April 24, 201214 yr If you are proven to be mentally ill you go to a psych ward. Unless the rules have changed. This shows how little you know. The majority of mentally I'll people aren't in a "psych ward." Being "mentally ill" doesn't keep you out of jail. A lot of mentally ill people are in jail or homeless or living life as hoarders, etc.
April 24, 201214 yr And this post shows how you clearly miss the point of the whole conversation. Go back to your Cubs. Dude? Go back to my Cubs? Makes sense. You're talking out of both sides of your mouth and everyone other than someone who's into plants is commenting on it. One post you say you aren't making excuses for him etc. And then you turn around and make excuses for him. No, I don't give 2 crusty dog turds about the NBA. It's stuff like this that turned me off from the NBA years ago. I'm a casual fan at most, watching mostly for certain players. But I'm still entitled to an opinion. Artest is a thug. More of it has to do with no one ever holding him accountable and being allowed to do whatever he wants because of his talent. No discipline, and a bully="mentally ill." Give me a break. If you want to see people who are truly mentally ill, I can show you plenty. This guy has no control over his temper and is a punk. That's it. Anger issues aren't mentally ill.
April 24, 201214 yr As I said on page one. If the elbow hits any other part of the body, then this isn't a conversation. He DID NOT intend to elbow Hardin in the back of the head. Was he trying to make a statement by clearing a guy out of the way after a big play. YES. Track record or not its been a long time since Detroit. 2-3 game suspension will suffice. Hardin BTW is day-to-day. These plays happen everyday in the league, in this one someone got knocked out. Punishment is warranted, but the act was not pre-meditated.

If you don't care about the NBA then why view the forum? And stuff like this turned you off to the NBA years ago? Was that in the 80's? Because plays like this have occured on a regular basis for a long time.

April 24, 201214 yr Btw you say he didn't mean to hit him in the head... I disagree. His arm was touching him almost the whole time. He knew where he was going to hit and he still threw his elbow as hard as he could.
April 24, 201214 yr Plays like this happen everyday? Can you show me one example? Read the previous post. Guys shove, throw elbows, push, get into each others face, before, during, and after plays every night. In this instance someone took one in the back of the head, if he clears out to the shoulder or arm (which I've stated multiple times was the purpose AFTER they made contact, then we aren't even having this conversation.
April 24, 201214 yr I've said the same things 3 or 4 times in this thread, only now someone is questioning me. Does anyone read everything before they post anymore?

He knew where he was going to hit and he still threw his elbow as hard as he could. That is the only thing that I disagree with. He meant to throw the elbow once they made contact. A blow to the head.. No. He derseves to be suspended. I just think the rally cry for him to be banned/suspended by some posters/media for the season, for life is nonsense.

If that elbow hit him in the back he still would have went down. This was no quick check to the back or shove. This was a Jon Bones Jones type elbow to the head. Again I'm waiting for an example where someone winds up and throws a vicious elbow like this one. Find one from this year. You say it happens every night, that shouldn't be hard.
