If it were not for Artest's history I would go with a 3-4 game suspension. Given he has been suspended over 100 games through his career, that has to count for something even though he, by comparative standards, has been on good behavior. That is why I feel the first round is fair. That is anywhere from 5-8 games.

With the exception of the Jason Kidd foul and the Jason Smith foul these videos are from the last week of play. None were as malicious as Artest's elbow but they were all still malicious fouls nonetheless. A majority were ejections. Physical play happens all of the time. These are just the videos I could find. Their was a scuffle in a Pacers game last week as well. Shoot, when Blake Griffin dunked on Gasol a week or two ago he led with his elbows.

 

I never said physical play didn't exist. But NONE of those examples are even close to what Artest did. I appreciate the effort but those mean nothing to me. They're hard fouls not blatant assaults.

I just don't put hard fouls and assaults in different categories. If a 'hard foul' injures someone for multiple games is it then deemed an 'assault'? The point that was made was that physical play happens all of the time. Elbows, shoves, hard fouls. You said show you proof it happens. I showed you proof.
