In terms of position only, the TE from last year will be very, very tough to replace. He was like a running back in the open field every time he caught the ball in the flat (I realize that he was a converted running back). Towards the end of the year, and especially after the injury to their top receiver, he added a very dangerous weapon in the middle/shallow 1/3rds.

 

Agreed. Ian McGurn will be very tough to replace.

I would think tight end. They seem to have plenty of offensive linemen.

I know this much. After watching spring ball Highlands will definately have the largest players 3 deep at TE in the state.

Nick True is in the 6'5 range, David Christian looks to be about 6'3 maybe 6'4 and the Grimme boy appears to be about the same size.

Off all of the positions on the football field Highlands is extra deep at the TE position.

Talent wise I would rank them Christian, True/Grimme.

A Big Three punch that will create mis-matches for just about every LB/DB in KY.

He's in the 6'2"-6'3" range but he's definitely still growing. I'd put him in the 260ish range. He sure looks sore walking down the driveway, so I know that he's been pushing hard this offseason

Kid is thick...........The little bit I saw of him during spring reminded me of a smaller Rob Smith with a Scott Kunhein "Pancake Special" mentallity.

Not sure what you mean. At the moment he is a bit undersized but I am sure he will mature and grow over this summer. The problem with people debating size of HHS qbs they tend to make quick comparisons to guys like Towles, Lorenzen and Guidughli. Those kind of sizes, accomplishments and careers are pretty special for any KY HS QB and even more special and rare that they all played at Highlands.

Highlands has many average sized HS QBs over their storied program and I would imagine that Hoge will fall into the average size qb sooner then later.

His football knowledge is off the charts when it comes to understanding the game, add in the fact that he has talent and is an athlete I would have to say he will develope nicely into a starter someday for the Birds.

Dale will design an offense around his projected starter based on his capabilities and abilities to help Highlands win.

Nothing is automatic though, perhaps their is another one of the phenoms I mentioned above right now cutting his teeth in the FTJFBL.

David Christian moved to TE? I thought that he was one of the 11 receivers that Dale said could be varsity football players right now. What happened to Matt Walkenhorst at TE? He is a pretty big boy as well.

Christian is not playing tight end.

Christian last played TE for the Red team and scored a lot of TD's cuz thats all he does is catch TD's. :lol:

I saw Jac Collinsworth the other day at Subway and he looks to be atleast 6'4 190lbs with very long arms. I stand 6'2 1/2 and was looking slightly up to him when we chatted. He is expected to be healthy and ready for a big Sr Season after sitting out track this year. Who knows he could even end up back on the hardwood for his Sr year. :sssh:

You are right. Sorry, I just knew he was catching balls and with his size I just assumed TE.

They'll have size, but they won't have the open field threat from that position that they had last year. Of course, there aren't many TEs in the state that could run after the catch like that. He was very underrated, in my opinion.
