March 23, 201214 yr OK, smart guy UK fans, it's honesty time. I'd like all of you to raise your hand who thought this current Louisville run was remotely possible a little more than two weeks ago. That's right, dig deep and be honest. Was it that 5-3 February that sold you -- y'know, the one featuring wins over world-beaters such as Rutgers, Pitt and DePaul (in OT!)? Was it the dismal offense displayed all season long, and sometimes tonight, that sold you? And if Ricky has done such a masterful job during this postseason -- and he has -- what does that say about the job he did in the regular season? It's been a great ride, and totally unexpected. I'm loving it. I still hate Pitino, and that wouldn't change with a national title. Wow! You really don't think all the injuries this year had any impact in the regular season? You never considered that once healthy the Cards could be a force? You have to take those things into consideration. That's what I hate...people are too quick to throw up their hands,or declare Pitino has let the game pass him by. It's a long run...never say never!

March 23, 201214 yr I think that the matchup Saturday is going to be really interesting and fun to watch. I'm cheering for Louisville because it will help me in my brackets at work, but I really think the Gators are going to be tough to beat. I feel like they are playing very well right now.
March 23, 201214 yr I did not think Louisville was capable of making a run in the NCAA tournament. I thought they would lose fairly early due to their ineptitude on offense. As it turns out, I was wrong. That is kind of where I was with their offensive ineptitude. When the brackets came out I was thinking they have a very favorable draw, very similar to their #4 seed run - out west - in 2004. They still have not been great on offense and have those strange lapses, but defensively they have been relentless. That will keep you in any game. Or in this case, ahead in any game. They have been below their season through 3 games of the tournament with points scored. Highest output being 69 in their first game against Davidson. They averaged 68.8 on the season. 61.7 thus far in the tournament.

March 23, 201214 yr Absolutely I did Jim. That's why I posted that I thought they would make a run in the tournament. The Cards have talent, and a great coach. You must have super-special analyst powers to have been able to see an Elite 8 team brimming under the surface of a team that looked cover-your-eyes awful and a good candidate to make it three straight first-round exits less than a month ago. They were still playing awful when everybody on the team was as healthy as they were going to get. And while it all feels great now, the fact remains is Pitino's recruiting has slipped dramatically. I tip my hat to him for the coaching job he's done these past two weeks, but for the life of me I can't figure out where it's coming from.
