You aren't kidding! Wow! I can't say that I have ever seen a body like that on a high school player. It looked like a senior D1 college kid playing out there.

 

Yea, even the woman announcing the game on ihigh made a few comments about his build. Almost sounded Dinkelesque. YIKES :banana:

Sounds like this game was not the recipe for success for the Rebels. They have to control the tempo and play to their strength of a ptient offense and hitting free throws down the stretch. Congrats on a good season. Looks like KCC will be a team to deal with over the next few years.

Wow, that is impressive to have that many froshmen putting up numbers in a state tourney game. Are they really that good or did Boone lay an egg? Do these kids have size?

 

Yes they have size. Camron Justice the PG and leading scorer at 21pts per game is 6'1 with facial hair. Christon is a big thick athletic kid that plays aggressive like a Sr. Evan Hall is a lanky kid around 6'5 who rebounds well, makes layups and shoots FT very well.

 

They even had a kid named Chance Cornett who is a frosh and was 1st off the bench.

Instead of dancing around the elephant in the room does anyone have ages on Davis, Justice and Christon? I'm not used to seeing freshmen who look like that and Davis' physique is extremely mature for a senior in high school. Has Davis been hurt or something? He was grabbing his shorts sucking wind before the first quarter was over. I heard on the radio he has a 33 on his ACT. What does his future hold after high school? It looks bright. KCC should be playing Saturday. They have a nice team. I enjoyed watching them.

Knott County's Davis (4 knee surgeries) can handle playing in pain

LEXINGTON, KY. — Enduring four knee surgeries in the past two years, Knott County Central guard Zach Davis at one point was told he would never play basketball again.

But with braces on both knees, the Patriots senior is the leader for a team that beat Boone County on Thursday in the first round of the PNC Sweet 16 in Rupp Arena. He had 15 of his 19 points in the first half and added six rebounds and four assists.

“Once you get out there and all of that, you don’t think about (the pain),” Davis said.

Davis averages 14.6 points and 5.2 rebounds and 4.8 assists a game for the Patriots. He missed all but 11 games last season because of his knee troubles.

Davis is limited in practice and said he has a routine after games.

“As soon as I get done, it’s straight to the whirlpool,” he said. “It’s 30 degrees for 30 minutes after every game. It shocks it. I don’t practice as much as I need to now, but this is why I came back, and I am glad I did.”

While he could play college basketball, Davis said he likely will attend Columbia or Kentucky and major in chemical engineering.

“I don’t think I could put up with two-a-days,” he said.

Great story. I knew there had to be a good reason for his poor conditioning. It's refreshing to see a kid as smart as he have the educational opportunity he has without sports being the only link to those educational opportunities. Bright future ahead of him.

After working the 9th Region tournament and having seen Knott County Central play on WYMT at least 4-5 times this year, this is how I thought the game would have ended. A certain someone, after the 9th Region tournament, told me they thought Boone County would handle whoever won the 14th Region.

 

I will say that having lived in NKY for a few years had me torn with who I wanted to win the game, I'm glad that a mountain team was able to advance to Friday action...well there are two this year. As stated earlier, KCC should be set for a few return trips with all the young talent the Patriots have.

Not sure about Davis and Christon. Justice is 14 years old and a GREAT kid. He has talent AND works hard. I wish him all of the success in the world and think he has earned it and will keep earning it. I agree with you, they are a very good team now and will be a force in a couple of years.

Or, maybe it isn't, given the 9th Region's history at Rupp. As I noted, you guys have a tendency to over-inflate what you see every day while ignoring the rest of the state.
