1. Male (5-0): Mighty Male dominated another opponent in Week 6, beating Butler 61-22.

Quarterback Elijah Parish led Male to the win over Butler, completing 19 of 26 passes for 364 yards and two touchdowns. Leading the Bulldogs in receiving, Briceson Rodgers and Izayah Cummings each finished with 154 yards and one touchdown. Pacing Male on the ground, Jaylin Bross rushed 18 times for 138 yards and three TDs.

The Bulldogs are set to visit Pleasure Ridge Park on Thursday night.

 

2. Trinity (5-1): Shaking off a double overtime loss to Male, Trinity rolled past nemesis St. Xavier 35-3. Trinity quarterback Nathan McElroy completed 13 of 22 passes for 244 yards while throwing one interception. Continuing to lead Trinity on the ground, Armon Tucker rushed 18 times for 112 yards and two touchdowns.

The Shamrocks are slated to visit Cathedral (Ind.) on Friday night.

 

3. North Hardin (6-0): The Trojans dismantled another opponent in Week 6, leveling visiting Bullitt East 42-6.

Quarterback Manie Wimberly led North Hardin to the win, completing 24 of 39 passes for 370 yards and three touchdowns while throwing one interception. On the ground, Wimberly rushed four times for 49 yards.

Three different North Hardin receivers finished with over 100 yards. Lavell Wright rushed for 100 yards and hauled in another 100 yards receiving.

The Trojans are set to host Meade County on Friday night.

 

4. St. Xavier (4-2): After notching back-to-back wins, St. Xavier was limited offensively against Trinity. The Tigers were held to 188 yards of total offense in the setback. Quarterback Douglas Bodhaine led St. Xavier's limited offensive attack, completing seven of 24 passes for 98 yards while throwing one interception.

The Tigers have the week of Friday, Oct. 4 open.

 

5. Central Hardin (5-0): The Bruins defeated Henry Clay 38-16 to remain undefeated in the 2019 high school football season.

Central Hardin used a balanced offensive attack to handle Henry Clay. Through the air for Central Hardin, quarterback Chase Elmore completed 12 of 16 passes for 273 yards. Thriving on the ground, Central Hardin rushed 33 times for 274 yards and five touchdowns.

The Bruins are due to host Butler on Thursday night.

 

6. DeSales (3-2): Class 3A title contender DeSales pulled away to defeat Henry County 43-6 in Week 6.

Darren Hollenkamp and James Johnson rushed for two touchdowns apiece for the Colts.

As a team, DeSales rushed 21 times for 243 yards and five touchdowns in the convincing victory over Henry County.

The Colts are scheduled to visit Paducah Tilghman on Friday.

 

7. Manual (4-1): The Crimsons beat North Bullitt 42-3 in Week 6, thanks in part to running back JuWuan Northington. A sophomore, Northington rushed three times for 103 yards and one touchdown.

Defensively, Manual held North Bullitt to 117 total yards.

The Crimsons are due to visit Eastern on Thursday.

 

8. Ballard (3-3): Ballard evened its record to 3-3 with a 55-14 win over George Rogers Clark in Week 6.

Jayden Farmer paced Ballard in its latest victory, rushing seven times for 179 yards and three touchdowns.

As a team, Ballard rushed 28 times for 302 yards and six TDs.

Linebacker Justice Thompson paced the Bruins on the defensive side, recording 13 tackles.

The Bruins have the week of Friday, Oct. 4 open.

 

9. Butler (3-3): The Bears were held to -20 rushing yards in the lopsided loss to Male. However, Butler quarterback Chaz Burks managed to complete seven of 15 passes for 237 yards and three touchdowns.

Tyrell Watkins led Butler in receiving, hauling in three receptions for 150 yards and one TD.

A game at Central Hardin on Thursday is the next challenge up for the Bears.

 

10. Fern Creek (4-2): The Tigers topped another longtime rival in Week 6, thrashing Eastern 43-8.

Four different Fern Creek players rushed for a touchdown in the victory over Eastern.

The Tigers are slated to host Oldham County on Friday night

 

 

Big Risers

1. Waggener (5-1): The Wildcats continue to win. With quarterback Alijah Sickles leading the way, Waggener blanked North Oldham 54-0 in Week 6.

The Wildcats have the week of Friday, Oct. 4 open.

2. Kentucky Country Day (6-0): The Bearcats are making noise in Class A. Kentucky Country Day is off to a 6-0 start following a 27-7 win over Southern in Week 6. Dorian Heard rushed 18 times for 106 yards and one touchdown in Kentucky Country Day's latest win.

The Bearcats have the week of Friday, Oct. 4 open.

 

 

Big Droppers

1. Christian Academy-Louisville (3-3): After opening the season 3-0, Christian Academy-Louisville has suffered three consecutive losses. Mercer County dealt Christian Academy-Louisville its third straight loss in Week 6, edging the Centurions 45-42.

Christian Academy-Louisville is due to visit Henry County on Friday night.

2.Eastern (2-4): After notching back-to-back wins, Eastern stumbled in the matchup versus Fern Creek.

The Eagles will face another tough test in the game against Manual on Thursday night.

 

 

Last Week's Game of the Week

Trinity rolled past rival St. Xavier 35-3 in the latest matchup between two of the state's biggest high school football rivals.

The Shamrocks used a balanced offensive attack to defeat St. Xavier convincingly. Trinity rushed 35 times for 194 yards and four touchdowns. Three different Trinity running backs reached the endzone in the victory.

 

 

Player of the Week

Alijah Sickles, Waggener, Sr., QB

In Waggener's 54-0 win over North Oldham, Sickles completed 16 of 21 passes for 211 yards and three touchdowns while throwing one interception. On the ground, Sickles rushed nine times for 191 yards and two touchdowns.

In addition to leading Waggener offensively, Sickles contributed defensively, logging three tackles, one tackle for a loss and forcing a fumble.

 

 

Game of the Week

Central Hardin vs. Butler

Much-improved Central Hardin is prepared to host Butler in another matchup between two teams ranked in the BluegrassPreps.com Louisville Power Rankings.

Undefeated Central Hardin has outscored opponents 245-92.

Butler knocked Central Hardin out of the postseason in 2018, defeating the Bruins 33-8.

Kickoff for the Central Hardin-Butler game is set for 7:30 p.m.
