Colonels_Wear_Blue
Really nice catch in foul territory by Simon Kenton's catcher, Hunter Faehr, in Simon Kenton's 5-2 victory over Marion County in the semifinals of the Whitaker Bank/KHSAA State Baseball Tournament. KHSAA Main | Twitter High, pop ups behind home plate are to me, the toughest "routine" plays in baseball. It didn't get automatic for me until college....my position coach could hit high pop ups at will, and he'd drill with all the catchers for 15 minutes or so after every practice. Once you learn that the ball always falls back toward the infield, you figure out that once you get under the ball, take a few steps back toward the infield. You almost always see high school catchers have to reach or even leap backwards to make the catch because the line up directly under the ball, instead of behind it.
