The 2017 KHSAA State Archery Championships will take place Thursday at the Kentucky Basketball Academy in Lexington, with the first of six flights getting underway at 9:30 a.m. The last flight will compete at 2:30 p.m., with awards presentations to the top four teams, top five boys’ finishers and top five girls’ finishers scheduled for 3:30 p.m.

Madison Central captured the team title in 2016 after posting the top score (3,436) in the championship round. Pulaski County (3,430) was the state runner-up a year ago, followed by Anderson County and Trigg County. Anderson County’s Henry Thompson garnered individual medalist honors after shooting a 297 (with 28 10’s).

Top 4 finishers at the NASP State Tournament in March:

1. Trigg Co. - 3440 (tied their best score on the year)

2. Madison Central - 3431 (best score of on the year)

3. Lafayette - 3429 (Their best score on the year is 3465)

4. Henderson Co. 3403 (Their best score on the year is 3424)

Lafayette is definitely the team to beat. Of the other 3 I think they could finish 2,3,4 in any order. There are also a few other teams that could sneak in and steal a spot if any of these has an off day.

Madison Central currently in 1st with a score of 3442.

Lafayette in 2nd with a score of 3440.

Pulaski Co in 3rd with 3413 and 214 tens

Lincoln Co in 4th with 3413 and 209 tens

Henderson and Trigg both shoot at 1:30 (so in 20 mins).
