swamprat
NCAA Women's Soccer Tournament Round 1. --- The Murray State women's soccer team fell 2-0 in a hard fought battle with the Tennessee Vols in the first round of the NCAA tournament in Knoxville, Tenn. Although ending their season shorter than they would have planned, the Racers end with a program low two defeats with an overall record of 15-2-2 overall. Tennessee advances to the second round and now has an overall record of 15-4-1. The first half was a stalemate, with both teams held scoreless after the initial 45 minutes. Murray State attempted three shots in the first half with one on target while Tennessee took four shots with one getting on target as well. "It's always tough when the season ends, but we broke down many barriers this season. To be ranked in the top-25 in the RPI and receive votes in the coaches poll five weeks in a row is an unbelievable achievement," said head coach Jeremy Groves after the game. Tennessee was able to score twice in the span of four minutes, with goals coming at the 59th minute and 63rd minute respectively. Murray State has not allowed multiple goals in a single game since September 8, where they hosted Little Rock and won 4-3 in overtime. This is also just the second time all year that the Racers were out shot by an opponent, with the other time coming against Saint Louis on September 17.
