Dayton is a great school. Can't think of a better place to learn, play and hang out for 4 years. My daughter recently graduated from UD. Excellent experience. A+++ I wouldn't be a bit surprised if Will B. and Blake become best of friends. You will not find 2 groups of kids, fans, parents, etc. more alike than at Highlands & Cov Cath (although many from each would strongly oppose such a suggestion. ) Best of luck to Blake for 4 great years.

In the 35th District, the loser of the Covington Catholic vs. Holy Cross 1st Round District Tournament game will be a pretty darn good team that does not make the Region.

The Finn is compact but when it is packed the energy level is amazing. There have been some classic Holy Cross vs. Cov. Cath. 1st Round of the Districts do-or-die games at Holy Cross. The Indians are hard to take out at home. They can use their own gym for free. H.C. might lose a few shekels at the gate but with Campbell, the Indians have a puncher's chance to do some damage should they make it to the BOK Arena. (As Brossart would attest.) No way I would give up the home court advantage.

If the Bulldogs run the table in the 9th Region and go to Rupp, it will be the first time this has happened since the 2004 Cov. Cath. team. The great Holmes teams of Austin Hill, Arrez Henderson, Jamel, Ricardo, Jerimiah, Ricardo, Elijah, etc. were not able to accomplish this feat. (of course the current squad would be .500 if they played a schedule of eastern/central kentucky teams.) :ohbrother:

If the Kenton County School Board amends its policy to permit games on the MLK Holiday, great...let's play two. The Board members are elected officials. If the citizens of Kenton County do not like their policies they can throw the bums out. I'm not sure I would call it political correctness as much as political reality. I recall Arizona losing a Super Bowl because of its refusal to recognize the MLK Holiday. When the NFL said we aren't coming back, never, never, never became - - Happy Birthday! In light of the prohibition currently in place, why would Simon Kenton schedule the game?

The Kenton County School Board reached the decision that in honor of MLK Day, there shall be no school related activities. Nothwithstanding this directive from the school board, Simon Kenton scheduled a basketball game on the MLK Holiday. The beef is not with the Kenton County School Board. It was certainly within their right to honor Dr. King in this fashion. Waiting for an explanation for why Simon Kenton scheduled a game on a prohibited date.

Hep was not a head coach at CCH. I think he was only a head coach in Cincinnati (Roger Bacon, Oak Hills, LaSalle.)

The northern Kentucky edition of the Cincinnati Enquirer (page 2 of the Kentucky Section) had a great shot of a recent reunion of Covington Catholic's 1968 Regional Championship Team. One of the players on the team is a friend of my brother-in-law. I have talked to him at numerous family parties and had no idea he played on the team. It was great to see Coaches Mote Hills and Hep Cronin. I also noticed a familiar face in the first row. Ever mindful of Rule 5, I will not identify him but let's just say this Guy is an Old favorite.

On the CCH internet broadcast, I've been hearing the back and forth: "let's play football" from the Highlands fans, "let's play baseball" from the Cov. Cath. fans, "lets play soccer" (I'm guessing) from the Highlands fans. I am waiting for the "let's go bass fishing."
