Word on the street is that CCH's record-setting QB Blake Bir will attend the University of Dayton next year. Great fit athletically and academically for Blake.

 

He will not be the only NKY QB on the Flyers roster as HHS grad Will Bardo has been the starting QB for the last two seasons.

 

Congrats to Blake. He'll be missed in Park Hills.

Dayton is a great school. Can't think of a better place to learn, play and hang out for 4 years. My daughter recently graduated from UD. Excellent experience. A+++

 

I wouldn't be a bit surprised if Will B. and Blake become best of friends. You will not find 2 groups of kids, fans, parents, etc. more alike than at Highlands & Cov Cath (although many from each would strongly oppose such a suggestion. )

What better way to start off your College career than to learn from someone who has been at it full time the last couple of years at the College level. Congrats to Blake, he will also be missed in Ft Thomas......Well, maybe not that much!

Correct. I think it's called 1-AA Non-scholarship. Plays in the Pioneer League which has teams across the country.

UD Class of 2006 here. Loved UD and covered the football team for the Flyer News on many occasions. Not a great stadium experience, but always great football played at Welcome Stadium thanks to solid coaches and dedicated players. Had a lot of good friends on the football team. Playing non-scholarship college football really is all about playing for love of the game. Hope he enjoys his time at UD and gets as much out of it as I did.

Yes. But the league is getting an auto-bid to the I-AA tournament for the first time next season. My understanding has been that the possibility of getting to play postseason ball has helped recruiting immensely since that was announced last year.
