Good point, in order for the penalty to be assessed after the TD it would have to be a dead ball foul. However in the case of holding or a block in the back, the foul may have allowed the player to score, in the case of celebration the action in no way gave the offense an unfair advantage. That would be my reasoning for assessing the foul the same as a dead ball foul. Agree, it would inconsistent, but that inconsistency is no worse than the inconsistency of how penalties are sometimes called because of the subjective nature of officiating in general.

That’s a great point. I say change these rules so in situation where the player is flagged for celebrating a TD, the penalty is enforced on the kickoff or extra point and not remove the points from the board, possibly deciding the outcome of the game.

From a fan perspective, it would be an interesting matchup. However, the precedence it might set could cause all kinds of uproar. It would be a BCS like system of the two top teams as voted by polls playing in a championship.

That’s correct. He is at WKU and primarily plays on special teams as a kick returner. He had several good returns this year, one of about 50 yards against LSU. On offense he had 15 carries as a RB, but is listed as a WR on their roster.

I’m not watching the game, but it sounds like Mayfield did not bring their A game and Hazard did. In all honesty I believe Mayfield is better than how they played today.

Third time’s the charm for Hazard. Always nice to see a school/team who hasn’t won before take home a Championship, especially coming in as a big underdog. Congrats to Hazard.

Congrats to the Falcons on a good season, especially since the bye week. A lot of these seniors have two rings and three Regional Championships, not too shabby. Congrats to Central, I fully expect them to win next week in BG. Wales is one of, if not the best back in KY.
