  2. Tilghman vs. Central--another tight one, the difference will be Burrus and McKinney up front. Central 28 Tilghman 24 Breathitt Co. vs. Belfry--two great mountain teams battling it out. i'm split on this one. But the heart says Breathitt in a tight one. Breathitt Co. 35 Belfry 34 Championship Breathitt Co. will be a road tested team and will have had to battle it out to get there. Central will have a speed edge. In the end Breathitt Co. pulls it out. Breathitt Co. 28 Central 26
  3. Here is my predictions for the Regional Championship Games and Beyond Tilghman vs. Henry Co.--this will be a good close game. Tilghman pulls it out. Tilghman 21 Henry Co. 14 Russellville vs. Central--If Russellville couldn't handle Danville's speed, they are out of luck vs. Central. Central 35 Russellville 12 Breathitt Co. vs. Russell--Russell has been better in the playoffs recently, but I can't go against this edition of Holcomb's Cats. Herald catches a TD pass in the waning moments. Breathitt Co. 28 Russell 24 Somerset vs. Belfry--May has a big night and Cole can't do it all- Belfry 34 Somerset 17

  11. Two things went into my decision to rate Grayson Co. and not Warren Central. In my mind those were the two squads battling it out for #10. I give Warren Central their props for playing a tough schedule, but the fact that they did have a losing record and Grayson Co., is 5-2 and seem to have steadily improved. The next thing I looked at was common opponents and there were two that stood out Barren Co., and Bowling Green. Barren Co. beat Grayson early in the season 21-2 and then Warren Central recently beat them 41-19. To me this evened the tally sheet at 1-1. So my deciding reason was the fact that Grayson and Warren Central were both blown out by Bowling Green, but Grayson played my #1 closer (63-13)than WC (62-6) did. To me this made the tally sheet 2-1 in favor of Grayson, so this week I went with Grayson. Thats not to say that it won't change next week if WC keeps winning like they have been.

  15. At the half this is a close game. Bell Co. 14-7 Sheldon Clark. Bell Co. has a lot of depth and THREE Quality backs, and a very big line. As the game moves on they will eventually wear SC down in the end. Bell Co. 38 Sheldon Clark 14
  16. Unfortunately, I must agree with you. PLD has too much talent to struggle this mightily.
  17. If Tates Creek can find a reliable low post threat, then they will be an 11th region threat this year. James Johnson was excellent post defender, but had no back to the basket game. A reliable low post scorer last season could have propelled the Creek past Scott Co., in last years regional championship game. Michael Sparks is one of the best players in the state and if he gets any help at all Tates Creek will be a dangerous team. I'm not sure what Mike Spaulding will bring to the table this year. If he cuts down on his out of control play at key moments TC can get to the same level they were at last year. Tates Creek is alos undergoing a coaching change this season. I am not sure what system Coach Williams will run, but he needs his kids to buy in quickly or they will be doomed in the ever competitive 11th region. On the Freshman level TC will have a top 2-3 team in the 11th. Ryan Fucci is a name to remmeber. He is the son of former Mr. Basketball Dom Fucci. There is also a very solid class of youngsters around him. All in all, I think Tates Creek wins around 22-23 games this year. If they feed the horse (Sparks) they can go far. He needs to take over and be an elite level scorer. My prediction is that the Commodores are district runner-ups to Lexington Catholic, and are regional semi-finalists bowing out to Madison Central (who is absolutuely loaded).
