Spencer Co 57 Ashland 43
the one man replied to HOMELESS CAMEL's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Whoever said Ashland was very good. The fact of the matter is they are young and very inconsistent at this time. Are they a top five team in the 16th region? Quite possibly because other than Elliott County the 16th is very average at best.I guess we will fine out more in February. -

Ashland did not show up. Spencer County outworked them. -
Boyd County vs Ashland predictions

I understand you have to allow players some freedom to create within the confines of your offense. I just think a good coach has some discipline within his offensive attack so kids know the difference between a good shot and a bad shot. The goal of any offense should be to get a good high percentage shot where you have the floor balanced for rebounding support and to allow for defensive transition.I just do not think that demanding that the ball go to the post or that the ball get reversed before you settle for a 3 point attempt is asking to much of high school athletes. I do think though that once you get a good look out of an offensive set that kids should be allowed to take the shot. -

This is the first time I have ever heard a disciplined offense being referred to as a jail cell of x's and o's. All good coachs have some discipline on the offensive end of the court it is really just a matter of degrees. Paul Patterson and Wayne Breeden's teams were all very disciplined at the offensive end as were Mike Flynn's teams. I think that is a compliment to all three coaches. -

Boyd played ball this summer as well. I am not sure how many games they played but I did see them play a couple of times. -

Ashland plays Ft Thomas Highlands at 4:30 at Harrison County on the 17th -
I have taken several youth basketball teams to weekend events hosted by BCI in Florence. I have never been disappointed in the level of competition at those events.

16th Region/District predictions
the one man replied to Springsteen#1's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
In fact our 7th graders have never completed with our 8th graders as a combined middle school team. I have no idea what you may have seen since I do not have the same blue colored glasses as you do. Rose Hill did in fact beat Verity's 7th grade team and their 8th grade teams. They did not compete against a combined 7th and 8th grade squad. My congrads to Kyle Bush, Ryan Wessel, Michael T and the rest of the Rose Hill squad for there accomplishments and I can only say I look forward to competing against them in the next several years. -

Downward spiral but may win the district? That comment doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. If you are saying the Tomcats do not have much young talent coming up then I might suggest you could be surprised. While they might not have anyone coming with the potential of an Euton or a Jackson I think they will continue to show up to play the game. Ashland has an 8th and 9th grade group of athletes that will compete with anyone in the region when their time comes. Unfortunately they havn't had much of an opportunity to play together as part of a school team yet. -

Jack Harris is a heck of a football coach and in fact is a heck of a basketball coach. Great job Jack! Congratuations to the other Ashland freshman coachs as well. Yes that includes you to Dustin.....:sssh: -

Great job Tomcats! Hats off to Russell for a game well played. Ashland won the turnover battle 2-1 and that could well of been the difference in the game. Big play of the game was the fumble recovery and return to the Russell 5 yard line by Ashland's Dylan DeLaney early in the fourth quater followed by a 5 yard touchdown pass from Chris Johnson to Trent Hardy. -

Losing "the hitman" John Stafford was a big loss for the defense. Hopefully Trey Rogers has recovered from getting his knee banged up earlier this year. -

Number 25 is Trey Rogers. He moved here from Mississippi after huricane katrina and he does kinda remind me of Chris Hutt as well. -

I watched both E. Carter and Raceland play this summer. I agree that both of these teams have talent. -
Suits me just fine to be playing with the "big boys". We may not have competed as well this year as we would have liked but it isn't because we can't compete at their level. We were just down this year and not as athletic as we have been in the past. It is what it is and we will go back to work and see if we can get better.

Ashland 13 Greenup County 8 (Freshman)
the one man replied to the one man's topic in KY Football (High School)
Hey I was making an observation of the game from an Ashland fan's perspective. GC gave the young tomcats all they could handle and have nothing to hang their heads over. Fortunately for us tomcat fans the young tomcats made two big plays to take control and steal away with a victory. It was a great game to watch though no matter which sideline you happened to be on. -

But they have also played Ironton, Wheelersburg, and Wayne......... Who else has Russell played this year? Is the Boyd kid still their QB? -

The game was played at GCHS. I believe it was Greenup County's first loss of the season. They do have some good looking kids and battled the whole game. Take awaytwo plays in the game for Ashland and GC wins 8-0. -

Trey Rogers 50 yard touchdown run in the forth quarter with GC leading 8-7. Dylan Delaney 85 yard interception return for a TD in the first quarter to put the tomcats on the board first 7-0. -
Great Job by the young tomcats tonight!

Lawrence Co. vs. Ashland Freshmen
the one man replied to lawrencefan's topic in KY Football (High School)
The Sheppard kid is an amazing athlete. He made some great throws and had two touchdown passes during the game. He also had some QB keepers and a couple of unplanned scrambles for good yardage during the game. He did try to force a throw with about 5 minutes left in the game and Lawrence County up 12-10 and was picked off in the end aone by the Delaney kid from Ashland. Ashland then when on a 60-70 yard drive to get in position for the field goal try. I watched the Sheppard kid play little league baseball and was totally impressed with his ability on the baseball diamond. Yesterday was the first time I had actually watched him play on the football field. I believe Lawrence County fans have something special and should enjoy watchimg him the next four years. -

Lawrence County won the game 12 to 10. Ashland missed a 20 yard field goal try with 5 seconds left. Great game! -
I had a friend from Pike County tell me to keep an eye out for the Honaker twins. Can someone tell me about them?
