  1. Well it looks like Apollo's coach should have had input,,,so I guess I am wrong.
  2. Believe it or not Lex CAth coach was named coach of the year??????????Who in the world selects these teams anyways????If anyone on here seen a better catcher than that of Apollo's catcher let me know. The first team is a handful of very good kids that obviously belong there and then there is some by name recognition only...I saw at least 6 kids that deserve to be on 1st team let alone be left off and put on honorable mention.
  3. Wow does that mean the Webb kid from Heath was consistantly around 95mph. Webb was the best pitcher I seen this year and the 1st Region representive didnt even know his name. "What a shame"!
  4. I was referring to the Apollo game,,, if your game was competitive you might had seen a different side of Dunbar. By the way congratulations on a great playoff run.
  5. I got to view PRP and Dunbar on the same night. Let me tell you,,,,you do not get any worst than the Dunbar players and some of there fans. I have never seen an umpiring crew take so much guff from players in a dug out in all the time I have watched baseball. The 1st base coach should have been thrown out and then he comes back to the dug out giving all 30 players high fives for his tyrant behavior in a state game against the ump. Then the rest of the game all of those JV players heckled along with the student section against the ump and the oppossing players. After the winning run is scored does the Dunbar players celebrate with there own fans noooooooooooooo.,, they ran straight in front of the apollo fans and over to the apollo dug out side beginning there celebration with a few taunts. If there was a baseball god Dunbar would have not won this game.
  6. On this night Fyffe was the fourth best starting pitcher. He didnt get much defensive support, but even with that it looked like he was always over throwing trying to get more speed and that took away from his accurracy. Still with that said he is definately one of the top 20 pitchers in the state.
  7. The Webb kid looked like he is an outstanding pitcher, especially in that first inning. I would rate him above the Dunbar pitchers. The kid pitching for Apollo is a true pitcher.....Not outstanding speed but flat out knows how to pitch.
  8. It does sound suspicious. Yes there was a little bit of rain 4 hours before game time. This was rain that was very much needed, not to mention the fact Creek has a field tarp. I am sure they have been watering there field some, but still it was not that much rain, and it didnt last long.
  9. Somerset made it out of a very tough region. Ryle just might have been under rated but I definately would not say Somerset was over rated, they do have a quality baseball program.
  10. Ryle Elizabethtown Greenup PRP Dunbar Johnson Central Bowling Green Henderson County SEMI Round Ryle PRP Dunbar Henderson State Final PRP Dunbar State Champ PRP TB 6
  11. This isnt my opinion, it just ended up that way with record and strength of schedule with the point system I had. It obviously gives other non traditional power teams a chance to get ranked and isnt reliant on very few coaches who will sometimes choose there own team very high to get some points. I would make some changes if it was based on my opinion, but several more teams I had rated made it to the final 16 than that of the coaches poll. Apollo is playing really well right now, and the next step in playoffs will be very interesting with the best 2 of 3 format. Too bad the state couldnt use a format something like the mens or womens baseball playoffs in NCAA for the final 8.

NR...............Letcher County Central
  13. What will he be doing if he isnt coaching High School Baseball?
  14. Dunbar took about 7 of there starters out of the game when the score was about 9-0 after 2. There JV got more time than there starters. Dunbar started Ballinger and he came out after 2 innings as well.
  15. YOU consistantly put down FC for no apparent reason. I am not saying FC is any better than these two outstanding schools but at least acknowledge the fact FC has played well against the 7th toughest schedule in the state. Things will have to go extremely well for FC's chances, the same as for both of the other schools you mention.
  16. Yes these teams have been eliminated.
  17. Wouldnt a good solution be to only take the district champion and then open up the tournament on a Sectional basis ..Meaning Section 1 having teams in districts 1-8 etc.... And take the top teams from this event to the State final 8??
  18. 1. Lexington Catholic 2. Dunbar 3. Henry Clay 4. Franklin County 5. Madison Central 6. Bryan Station 7. Madison Southern 8. Western Hills What does everyone else think,,,,,take records out of the equation.

Somehow, there has to be a better way. Just because the situation is tough for the teams in the 41st district, you should not pick out the three teams that you did because quite frankly they all deserve to be in the tournament at this point as well, especially when compared to every other district in the state (besides the 41st). You can look at this another way, Tates Creek had there chance and gave it a very good effort and lost. I do not buy the fact you include Lex Christian and Lafayette in that category (they are above average yes, but any of the 3 teams you listed could beat them on any given night), because they are very beatable. You would probably be surprised but Bryan Station, Madison Southern and Western Hills has some very talented players on there team. Madison Southern has some of the best hitters in the region playing for them, they just dont have quite the numbers to field a full team that can make them even more competitive, Western Hills has some of the best young position talent in the Region and Bryan Station apparently can beat most of the teams on any given day if the pitching matchup works out. So my point is everyone is going to lose at some point along the way. The argument can be extended to a regional argument even moreso than a district one. Create two regions out of the Lexington area instead of one just like in Louisville.
  20. Look at Dirty Cleats top 50,,,you will find two of them

  22. DISAPPOINTMENTS: Out of the tournament from the Dirty Cleats top 50 1. Owensboro Catholic Rated #5 in coaches poll and #17 in Cleats poll. 2 years in a row (must be over rated) and just what is UofL getting with 3 DI recruits when they cannot even make it out of district. 2. Paintsville #14 coaches #9 Cleats Should have dominated. 3. Russellville #23 coaches poll #44 cleats another disappointment 4. Campbell County #43 coaches #50 cleats lost to Scott. 5. Scott County #50 coaches #45 cleats, game with Bryan Station could have gone either way. 6. Louisville Manual #33 coaches #30 cleats, tough matchup first round district. 7. Lexington Christian #17 coaches #28 cleats, Played and lost against #1 Lex Catholic, not a disappointment, just tough luck with tough district. 8. Lexington Tates Creek #9 coaches, #3 cleats, played third toughest schedule in the state and went into districts having to play #2 Dunbar. Was in it all the way winning 1-0 in 6th inning and lost on a grand slam homer 4-1 with two outs. Very tough loss.
  23. Thorobred,,,you called that one right. It surprised me how much FC dominated Western Hills
  24. Apparently you have'nt seen some of the wins Franklin County already has. They could easily win a first round game in the 11th region as long as it is'nt a matchup against Lexington Catholic or Dunbar. If they don't see them untill later on, then they could possibly make a run in their region.
  25. Do you have any idea as to what the pitching matchup was on that particular day? Not taking anything away from Harrison County because I am sure they were probably the better team that day, but my point is it looks like to me FC had a pretty tough week leading up to that game against W.Jess. Lex Cath. Central Hardin and then Harrison County all in a 3 day period.
