Empty Spots for 16th Region Teams?
I don’t agree with everything coach Lewis does on how he handles some of the player conflicts. I will say it is very difficult to keep elite players and parents happy all summer. All players were stars on their high school team and now they are working for a position again. Coach Lewis does a good job at promoting and getting players seen from our area. He and his assistant coaches volunteer a lot of time to this team and give most of their summer to it. I do enjoy watching Post 76 and hope it continues to be a competitive team in the Tri-state.

Empty Spots for 16th Region Teams?
Don’t ever count Ashland and Fairview out. Both of these teams have a lot of returning players that may be ready. East and Raceland have a very good shot. I think it will be a very surprising 16th this year. What about Lewis Co? I think they have a bunch returning.

Empty Spots for 16th Region Teams?
I think you are going to be surprised at some of the young talent in the 16th this season gcguard. Greenup should be in the top 4 teams in the region also but, the many years I have watched baseball in the area I have seen some major upsets. Confidence is a good thing up to a certain point.

Baseball dying at some high schools?
I can say this about the 16th region for baseball. If you don’t have a person with big bucks that loves baseball and likes to support your team, you are in trouble. Baseball gets the gym after all the other sports have made their schedule or if they will even let baseball players use it. Baseball is always last at getting uniforms, practice equipment ,and funds to update field conditions. Like I said, you better have someone that has some money to support your team because the schools will not.

So you know Baseball....
Got one for you Strike3 A batter hits the ball and the ball hits the pitcher mound and bounces back into the home side dug out. Foul or fair?

Feb 15 2008
PatDad is correct. The players usually have an off season workout program that they group together on their own time or most schools have instructed weight lifting as part of the physical ed class. Official coaches either paid or volunteers on the team roster cannot instruct until Feb 15th. Correct me if I’m wrong Strike3

Pre-season 16th Region Baseball
Good write up gcguard. :thumb:I also feel that Greenup will be hard to handle with all the pitching depth that they have returning and big bats. I feel Raceland will be surprising a lot of people with players Martin, Carver, and Wilson returning .Wilson doing a good job on the mound last season. Let’s not forget about Ashland with Rigsby, Duvall, and Jackson returning. Fairview with Thompson, Evans, and Clark also has a lot of good young talent just waiting to get their chance. Boyd always has talent each and every year and I am also wandering about how much depth they will have for the mound. East Carter will be my big runner for the 16th against Greenup with very little starters lost from last season. East will have some good seniors along with some new young talent that will be ready at district time. Congratulations to all the 2007 players from our 16th region that have continued to represent our area at the college level. We wish you all the luck for 2008.Might just be another Brandon Webb out there ready to make it happen.

Best players in 16th. region?
Offensively in the 16th Logan --- Greenup Thompson- Fairview Duvall---- Ashland-- I think that is the name of Ashland’s catcher All three of these players have extremely quick bats with power. I think we will hear a lot about the plate appearances of these boys in 2008
