  1. Am I understanding this correctly....Corbin scored 30 points with 1:01 left to play in the game?
  2. Whitley is playing better, but I still think Corbin will be at it's best when it comes time to play the District and will defeat Whitley by 10-15 points. Look for things to change in the next couple of years though......I can see Whitley and Williamsburg being much stronger contenders.
  3. Jon is trying to learn to walk again. He is functioning on the level of a 4-year old. Please continue to remember this family in your prayers, it is going to be a long struggle.
  4. The Jackets have stepped it up!! They gave Lynn Camp all they wanted and then some. The big men on the inside had an awesome game tonight. Teague, Frazier, Kilgore, and Pettit controlled the inside. This is one game the Jackets had won going into the final four minutes of play.
  5. I wonder how Mr. McAllister came to his decision on whose name he recognized from the schools. Did the coaches produce the names or where they his personnel choices? I for one agree Teague should of been included.......he had been limited to his playing time in about two to three games because of an ankle injury. Is it possible he was just overlooked?
  6. I saw the light at the end of the tunnel for the Jackets in this game. They never gave up! If they continue to give the effort this team may be able to pull some upsets in their last couple of games. Cobin did look a little shell shocked in the first quarter.....I don't think they expected the Jackets to come out so physical. The Hounds are a good ball club......I wish them luck for the rest of their season.
  7. Williamsburg has always been known as an academic school. In the old days if you were held back that meant you were not up to par in your studies, however now it just seems to mean your team will be more competitive. I'm not sure about this whole practice of holding the child back. However, when I watch the young ones compete with the older ones I start to think maybe it should be a common practice. I do know that Williamsburg's 3 seniors are all still just 17 years old.
  8. I think the Jackets could be very competitive in a couple of years. They have no juniors on the team, so this will be the year the sophomores are seniors and the freshman are juniors. They also have some promising talent in the middle school that should help. I think Coach Robinson is just the man that has the patience and determination to bring this young team around.
  9. Bubba it is folks like you that keeps us focused on the kids. You seem to always see the best in teams. I would like to think the Jackets could come out and give a good effort. If they play to their potential then maybe they can keep it within 20. On the other hand Corbin seems to always be ready to play.:thumb:
  10. I hope North gets their problems worked out. It's ashame that a whole team has to suffer for bad decisions made by a few.
  11. I saw Pineville play......they definitely deserve RESPECT!
  12. Williamsburg Lady Jackets will take on the Lady Redhounds at Mountjoy Gym tonight. Do you think the Lady Jackets can play with the Lady Redhounds like they did the Lady Colonels? Williamsburg had some young ladies that seem to improve every game. Kat Hoffman is a very promising young player who averages several rebounds and points per game. They also have the eighth grader Lakin Ayers playing point guard who is looking good.
  13. Does anyone remember the Basketball team Whitley had in the early 70's when Bill Williams, Richard Love, Melvin Croley and some others played? I remember this being a very competive team with a coach that was required to actually take his players home after practice and games. I'm sure if he figured up his time he paid the school to coach. I guess I'm asking what ever happened to coaching for the love of the sport and kids.....instead of the all mighty buck?
  14. I understand you making your point on who was going to win the game, but why so harsh when it is obvious you are a Jacket fan?
  15. I agree Coach Robinson is doing a good job!! After all this team has endured it's ashame that folks like you still deem it necessary to belittle them! :fight:
