A lot of basketball to be played before we get to this game, but I can't see Whitley beating Corbin this year...............and maybe not for a few years.

Whitley is playing better, but I still think Corbin will be at it's best when it comes time to play the District and will defeat Whitley by 10-15 points.

Look for things to change in the next couple of years though......I can see Whitley and Williamsburg being much stronger contenders.

1. I think that there is too much basketball yet to be played to be talking about this matchup.

 

2. Whitley will struggle to win 10 games.

 

3. Most Whitley fans are realistic and understand that they still have a lot of work to do. Yes, they are much improved and continue to improve every game, but they have along way to go. Looking back to the mid 90's Corbin beat Whitley after taking two beatings from them in the regular season, that was with Deaton at the Helm of Corbin. Now the roles are reversed, but Deaton has much less talant this year than that year. Deaton is a great coach and will challenge sooner than what most people think (inlcuding Corbin fans) But I think now Whitley will come in play hard and let it all hang out.....and that is for the next five ball games, Middlesboro, PSW, Spencer County, Rockcastle County and Monticello. Then and only then will they turn their attention to the Redhounds.

 

4. I think this thread was started just to incite fans, and not get a true read on the game, since it is still several weeks away, but that is just my opinion.

Maybe now is a good time to bring this one to the top.

Whitley isn't playing good. Corbin is.

 

I have a feeling that it will be close right down until the last three or four minutes and Corbin will win it by 12.

That sounds like a reasonable prediction SSF.

Corbin by 15. Corbin will make a big run at some point and that will be the differance. Whitley seems to unravel at some point during their games. Corbin's intensity and composure will be the differance.

Another good point by Nomorenoles. I think composure and big runs help any team come tourney time too. Don't forget the Colonels have Iron Mike in their corner.

Whitley has Iron Mike but Corbin has Crawford, Johnson, Hamlin, Smith, Manns, Bartley and etc.

I have always heard that good players make plays.

Not sure how this game will unfold. If they Whitley team that played Knox and Middlesboro shows up I think it will be a competitive game. If they Whitley team that played SW Pulaski, Lynn Camp and Rockcastle then I look for this one to be decided by the end of the third. The Monticello game has to have many Colonel fans scratching their heads. Not sure if the Colonels are moving in the right direction or just stuck in the mud with their foot on the gas.
