Great news for Alyson. I guess sometimes the KHSAA gets it right.

Dixie lost to Ryle in 2 games and then beat Rockcastle Co. in 2 games. They play Madison Central this morning and need a win in this match to move on to the gold medal round starting this afternoon. Ryle has won their first 2 matches and are assured of moving on to the gold medal round. I'm not sure about Boone, but I feel pretty certain they will move on as well.

Nice article. Drew Mcdonald of Cold Spring is playing in his 6th U.S. Kids tourney in the 11year old division. Good luck to them all, it is a great experience.

Check the latest edition of NCC's quarterly news magazine about the school's expansion, look at the list of Leaders/Donors for the campaign, and connect the dots. Better yet, ask any of the seniors or their parents, they are as feed up with this whole situation as anyone.

To try and clarify, the first family was from within NCC's dictrict, the second was out of district for NCC. The Brossart statement refers to students from St. Joseph who Brossart continually lost to NCC because of Coach McDonald, but will now have a much better chance of keeping them in their ( Brossart's) district because she is no longer the coach. In other words more kids from St. Joe's are likely to stay within district and go to Brossart. I hope this clarifies the situation. Sory it was confusing.

Care to count the number of players who have gone there BECAUSE of her? To name a few decent players from out of district ther was Chiodi and Klei who now are/were both on full scholarships at great schools. Several of the best players there now went specifically because she was there. The number from St. Joseph alone offsets any of the 2 or 3 you are referring to. One of the two you are referencing went to another school because the mother of the family physically attacked Coach McDonald after a game and there was a restraining order barring her from the school except for graduation. Are these the kind of people we are losing? No great loss there. The other family you are referring to thought their daughter was much better than she was, as was proven when her stats declined every year from her sophomore year through her senior year. Believe me, she brought many, many more students in than didn't attend. Brossart is beside themselves with joy knowing they will get many of the out of district students they lost to NCC because of her. She was forced to step down because several "influencial" parents with clout and money habitually complained and the administration, unlike past administrations, did NOT have the courage to step up and defend her. It was just easier for them to knuckle under and force her out.

No 8th grader EVER dressed varsity for NCC girls under coach McDonald. Period.

Gee, sounds similar to the NCC situation where parents, rather school administration, make the decisions. It is a shame when a school like Beechwood loses a great coach because of parents.

Just to clarify your first statement. Courtney played freshman ball until their season was over and then dressed the last few JV games. She NEVER dressed varsity. I have checked and this is absolutely correct. As for your second statement, I couldn't agree more. Parents must just be so naive to believe coaches won't play the players they think will help them win. Your right, rec leagues are where they belong.

Nobody was ever cut because of this.

I hope you are right. The previous coach didn't "tolerate" interference, but you still have to have the administration backing. I don't think this will be a problem, but it's not just the coach.

I'm sure he will. He has experience, 9 of the 11 players back from last year, and the backing of the administration. Adjustments to the girls game will be the only thing keeping him from a big season. Good luck.

Gee, you mean that happens other places too. As one poster said on another blog, "Coaching at an orphanage is the best job." Good luck. It won't take long for a school that big to become a force.

The point is there are issues with parents at all schools, but in the vast majority the administation steps up and solves these problems before coaches are forced to resign.

Any person's opinion is subjective, based on their views. That doesn't make it so.

Just heard from a neighbor of Donna's mother that she has come out of her coma and is doing much better. I had heard she was in very serious condition after the opperation and the outlook was not good. Looks like all those prayers might be working. Great news.

I guess I'm questioning how you know if McDonald is blunt or lacks people skills or are you just assuming this?

It would be very interesting to know how the people affected most be this feel; the players returning to this year's team. I'm not sure but if I remember correctly from last year there are quite a few. I wonder if their opinions were even considered? Isn't it ironic that decisions like these are made but the kids most directly concerned usually aren't even involved.

Not to dispute anything you say, but I'm just wondering where McDonald's bluntness and lack of people skills were mentioned. Nothing in the article I read mentioned this. Incidently, in your dealings with parents such as those mentioned above, if you had a way of convincing parents their kids were not as good as they thought, you should bottle it. I'm sure every coach around would be happy tp buy some, as all are probably faced with this from time to time.
