No I went to both schools. And I believe we are close enough together to support each others kids and each others programs. Unfortunately some people can't take their Orange and Black or Maroon and Gold colored glasses off long enough to have some class and support the community no matter if it's Raceland or Russell doing well. I've heard too many people from both sides root against the other no matter who they are playing. I just think that's the wrong attitude. Just my 2 cents. Shouldn't be a heated debate. Should be two communities talking about a great game for the community and the kids. But you are right. If they don't think they can restrain themselves from turning it into to a heated debate then they are making the right call. I just was looking forward to talking about the game this year with everyone. It's a shame it is being taken that seriously. At the end of the day it is just a game.

I believe it was an Ashland supporter calling for a "Blank at the Hank." As the apparent lone Raceland poster in this thread (although a "shifty" one in the yes of Ram fans because I believe in supporting both Raceland AND Russell and think too many grown-ups act like children over the rivarly ie not talking about the game, calling one or the other "little brother", making fun of the others stadium, etc.) I've given the Devils their due. The fact is Russell could very well win this game. And the Raceland players and coaches are well aware of that and THAT is what matters. These games aren't won or lost in BGP threads believe it or not. What any of you say here should have no bearing on what happens on Friday nights. And if it does? Then that is a failure by the Coaching Staff. But I've never heard of some kid coming out to play on a friday night and not doing well because the BGP poll didn't go in their favor or because Fan A complained about the size of your stadium. Come on now. Let's be realistic. If a player needs a post from BGP to get pumped to play he needs to quit playing. Period. We adults put too much stock in these things. This place is supposed be a fun place to talk about the game. Period. And anyone who makes more of it than that is fooling themselves.

I don't know if this is indication of the respect factor but the Russell people booed the Raceland people in CHURCH on Sunday morning as we were promoting the food drive for River Cities Harvest. :irked: I was like...WOW. Of course the Devils would boo in church! :fire::fire: Raceland players aren't overconfident. That much I do know. They expect Russell to give 110% and they are ready to give Russell 110%. This one will be closer than the experts think. That's not true. LCA got a first down after the call and looked like they were going to score but their Quarterback threw an interception to seal the deal. The Personal Foul had nothing to do with it.

Against Russell.

Raceland didn't have the horses to keep with Russell last season. Russell had a much better line in 2007 than they do this season and Raceland has a better line THIS season then they did last season. Raceland won't wear down this year. I can guarantee you that. I've only got to see Russell once this year against Ashland. They just seemed to lack a leader on the field and they got pushed around up front. If they want to beat the Rams they will have to play much better in the trenches. That's where games are won and lost. I know we can say the evidence points to a Raceland win, especially after this past Friday. But rivalries have a funny way of going the other way sometimes. Raceland can't take Russell for granted. They need to remember last season and take care of business.

I was always taught you forget about the game you just played and get ready for next week. This game was over no need to wait any longer! I said a prayer for the Equipment Manager after reading this post!

Uh oh Bulletin Board material already! :lol: I am just looking forward to the game. There is something special, no matter how good or bad each team is, of seeing these two teams on the field together. Until last year it hadn't happened in my lifetime. Both sides have passionate fans, excellent schools, and great Coaching staffs. This is the one night a year I hope the Devils don't win, but I love for them to show some heart and make this one, one to remember. It should be noted that there is a canned food drive and other charity "contests" between the school. The real winners there is the community. This game transcends the field. Its about the schools coming together for a great cause and enjoying watching our kids compete on the field. I hope both sides keep some perspective on this game this week.

Russell has a lot of soul searching to do. Congrats to Mason Co.

...why the canned food drive contest of course! Who will collect the most cans? Oh there is a football game? Russell's line has to improve this one is all about pride. For Raceland this one really is a tune-up for the play-offs, but the perfect season would be special. Might be a big game. Hope people show up for it. :lol:

I think they are fine where they are. They've done what they can to play a tougher out-of-district schedule with Ashland, SK, and Raceland. Next year they add Ironton to the schedule as well.

I would be tempted to put Paintsville above Boyd this week. Other than that I think these ratings look good. I would love to see Johnson Central play Raceland this season. Not gonna happen, but it could be a whale of a game!

I remember a time when I was in school at Raceland that Paris was considered a formidable opponent. Not that case anymore. What happened to that program? Raceland will keep it rolling with this one but Coach Hoof will keep it classy 40-8.

I guess Raceland wasn't a very good homecoming date. My source at the game tells me 2 touchdowns for the defense tonight! Sounds like they opened up a case of Orange Crush!

Final. MUCH closer than the score indicates. Bulldogs have brighter days ahead- they are a lot better than they were this time last season.
