"VanHoose High School Career Over"
stinger replied to ACE's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Russell will be fine and right in the mix. They still have the most talent even without Jon. Terrible that it happened. Great player. Never want to see anybody's career end that way. Rehab hard and you will be fine at Evansville. Best of luck! -

Agreed. All everyone is talking about is Euton and Jackson (Rigthfully so) but people better realize there are two really good frosh in Westwood as well. -
Boyd County 54 Rose Hill Christian 43
stinger replied to MBWC41's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Loosen up guys it is just one loss. Don't let it get to you so much, besides you can now focus your attention on rooting against Ashland and tearing them down like you have all year. -
Got it. Thanks. When will ADI do that? After the season? If so it would make sense. That way you could include the post-season results into your decision.

Rose Hill vs Boyd in the 64th
stinger replied to twofakind's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Boyd by 8-10. -
Just Head coach's or assistant's too?
-
KABC is the Kentucky Association of Basketball Coach's. Any member can vote for both player and coach of the year. Player has to be a senior and coach has to be a Head Coach. Usually all staffs belong to this great organization. So basically assistant coach's Head coach's vote for these two awards. You can only vote within your region. For example a 16th region coach cannot vote for 15th region POY or COY.How the paper does it I have no clue.
-
Did not mean to imply that anybody was a hick. Just stating that Coach Euton probably had to split the award because voting was already over when post-season began. Then they go to State finals and everyone wonders why she did not win it outright. Most of these awards are of a regular season nature.

District Tournaments - Seed or Blind Draw
stinger replied to Hilltopper2005's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
The KHSAA should step in and make everybody either seed or blind draw. It is not fair that some seed and some don't. The problem is they won't because it would destroy the Sweet Sixteen and that funds 63% of the KHSAA budget. If they mandated seeding The small schools would push for class basketball tourneys or perhaps leave KHSAA and form their own association. Either way the SWEET16 as we know it would be gone. Before everyone slams on me I know the ALL "A" exists, but the money for the small schools at stake from making the regionals is also what is driving some districts not to seed either. -
You guys don't get it. Every region does it differently when voting on Coach of the Year and player of the year. Some have papers or coach's associations, etc. Most of these awards are voted on before the begininng of the district tourney. In other words no post-season success or failure figures in. KABC voting (which is a big one because players who win get an automatic try-out for KY all-star team is already over) for Coach and player of the year is done already. For example in the tenth region if your team wins region the 10th region coach's association automatically gives you it's coach of the year award.

12th Region Coach of the Year
stinger replied to SouthernSportsFan's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
KABC voting ends today it is always a regular season award. Other awards given out are different region to region, and some give awards later considering post-season achievements. KABC also gives out a player of the year for each region again regular season. -
Scooterbob just curious would you include the Rose Hill game as one Ashland was supposed to win?
-
Final from last night. In addition no predictions for Friday's clash at Ashland with Russell? Cannot believe that no one has posted thst yet.
-
This game does not mean a thing. Boyd will win in the districts. Just my opinion.
-
So Ashland wasn't tenacious in the win? why is it always the other team who is doing such a great job of staying with Ashland? Both teams played tenacious if you ask me. :sssh:

Out of the 17 statewide All "A" tourneys how many have been one by private schools? 13-14? Has any public school besides Bardstown and Hazard ever won it? Is this What Stan envisioned? It goes back to the whole public/private argument. Private schools recruit by nature for students. I really don't care either way and do think that private schools should be included in both ALL "A" and Sweet Sixteen. Makes it even sweeter when they (private schools get beat). Gives the public schools a chance to unite and root against the private schools and vice-versa. It is called competition. :thumb:

Great draw for the 16th!

Cubster's 16th Regional Poll 1/28/07
stinger replied to Nets's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Not to mention Ironton at Ironton. I don't believe anybody in the 16th has won over there in a long while. Spring Valley also beat Paintsville which just beat Elliott. Ashland beat Spring Valley. With that logic Ashland should win on tuesday? ha! ha! Just kidding. -
Cubster's 16th Regional Poll 1/28/07
stinger replied to Nets's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Ashland is 6-2 against region teams and 4-1 against district teams. Why would Elliott and Russell want to play 17 games against region foes? Sometimes losses to great teams such as Covcath, Madison Central, Iroquios, Mason County, just to name a few are better for you than beating up in region opponents over and over again. We'll see come March. They also have Clark tonight, Elliott Tuesday, Rowan, Greenup, etc. to come later. Anybody else played that kind of schedule in the 16th? 6 teams ranked in the top 20 in the state. Who cares if they lose to them? They will have gotten better as a team win or lose. Object is to win district and region. Not have a glossy record. -
Clark/Ashland still on as of now, as far as I know.
