One of our worst performances of the season. The Ashland TD was a perfect example of a DB going for a pick, and forgetting his education. Don't see everyone wanting to be a star happening again. This will be a team victory.

They all have Grim's back, and will get their chances. Teams thin at running back just can't understand the depth concept. Hope they don't have to find out this year, but they will.

Grim doesn't play defense, and Central's defense is a pretty glaring dimension. Unless you have some new fundamentals about how the game is played, which I doubt, then you should understand that there's no need to put the ball in the air when you average 45 points on offense while your starters give up 3 on defense. Any coach that would do that is a coach trying to run the score up. No need to here. And for the life of me, I can't imagine a coach showing his entire hand when there's nothing to gain. Football 101.

Late in the 4th quarter...

One dimensional? Isn't that the same thing everyone thought last year about Blume? This is a "team", and there are plenty of weapons. Grim is our "feature" back. And "class"? This is our field. We take good care of our visitors, as you know if you came to the last game, but I don't think we have a whole lot of desire to make your experience any more enjoyable than plenty of seating, good food, and safety for your fans.

Boyd will be back very soon. I just happened to be down by the gate when the BC players came off the field. Several were crying. A few minutes later, I was chatting with a Boyd parent, and he said the kids (not him) really thought they could win the game. The Eagles have only trailed in 2 games this year...both Boyd County games. I sincerely hope this program gets it back quickly, and I think it will because the heart, faith and pain of losing is already there. Rebuilding a program is fun and exciting, and BC is well on its way.

My burger was cold Friday night, but I ate it anyway. You have to tell 'em to melt the cheese too (cold burger, cold cheese, and lousy choice of chips...cheddar cheese Lay's), but the 25 degree temps may have played a role. Franny, we only have one cow in Johnson County, and I bought it at the stock yard today. I'm gonna fatten it up a little and ride it all the way to Louisville December 1. If the Bluegrass Restaraunt hadn't closed, I was hopin' someone would get a big sack of those hand-cut steak burgers on rye. Can't believe a smoking ban could shut down one of the few remaining landmarks. What's next, Adam & Eve? You comin' to the game?

We never get any game experience at punting, and it came back to haunt us tonight (lol).

I think he was still in the shower trying to wash the mud out of his ears from last weekend, and just missed the bus.

Ashland 27 Mason Co. 6 Beating a much-improved Boyd County team in a close game is nothing to be ashamed of. There's no way Mason hangs with Ashland at Putnam.

Against better competition, Mason is averaging about 10 points a game. Central 45 Mason 0

The way I understand the rules, if there is a 3-way tie (e.g., 3 teams 4-1), if one of the three have beaten the other two, then that team is the champion. If Mason wins and Ashland wins, all three would be 4-1, and all have one win against one of the three. In that case, each team adds the wins of four teams it has beaten in the regular season, and the highest total wins. Ashland would probably have the highest total by adding Belfry's wins, Russell's wins, etc. The only way I see Mason winning the district is if they beat JC, and Ashland loses. Then there would only be a two-way tie, and Mason wins the head-to-head.

JC would only fall to #3 if Ashland also wins Friday night, in which case Ashland wins the district. If Mason wins and Ashland loses, Mason wins the district, JC is second, and Ashland (I believe) would fall to fourth behind Boyd County. Mind bogglin', ain't it?

You can get 2 in 3 weeks. I think different programs take turns serving them. It was girls' volleyball tonight (I think).

You are objective and a class act, and always have been on here. One of two or three Ashland fans who are, and one of two or three who acknowledge the reality of this season. Thanks, and what a healthy, anticipated rivalry this should become.

Now, now. The girl that sang The National Anthem against Greenup did more damage (to my ears, at least) than anything. Thank God we can play football. Ninety-five percent of the players don't read these posts, nor are they aware that Ashland posters have private-messaged each other and conspired to take Immodium ID for their mouths this week. Not sure what the psycology of that is all about, and don't care. Maybe God sent a swarm of locusts or something for believing that He is a tomcat. As we all know, Ashland goes overboard complimenting their players, coaches, broadcasters, etc. every week, basically talking to themselves. While I agree that there are some strange posts regarding JC and this game, it will have no effect come Friday night. If we get anywhere close to the 8,000 predicted fans in attendance, there won't be 10 BGPers there, so......

Rejuvination of a program seems to be about as excited as hungry fans get, especially when they haven't eaten in several years. Lincoln will have to play its best game.

I'm not convinced that mountain football is down. Could it be that there are more good or respectable teams than usual? Maybe mountain football is catching up with the rest of the state (4A aside...too much Lexington and Louisville).

Obviously, Montgomery County is for real. Of the central and eastern Kentucky teams I'm familiar with (or somewhat familiar with), this is the biggest turnaround of 2006. I have only seen the scores, but apparently there is not a blatant weakness of this team would have been exposed by someone. True, thay've lost a couple (or whatever), but they haven't been blown out and have played especially well lately. Since its at home, and I'm sure this will be a wild, vocal crowd, I'll say... Montgomery County 23 Lincoln County 16

Not to take anything away from Jenkins (if East Kentucky was the SEC, Jenkins would be UK...close, but no signature win), but in 2006, Pikeville has played up to the competition. To wit, Jenkins and Phelps (yes, 79-6 Phelps) taking Henry Clay into the second half, or going toe to toe with Belfry? :lol: Pikeville is fine, and will avenge Hazard and thump Paintsville. Pikeville will host 2 playoff games because of this rediculous playoff change, then who knows what will happen. If I understand correctly, district winners in Region 8 will host as long as they win, up until the finals.
