Maybe after the Carlisle family builds the $5mil dollar football facility they will build or completely rehab the basketball facility.

Questionable, as in who was the lady that walked in from the players benches warranting a stoppage of play to allow her to find her son and seat.

Does anyone have Highlands 2020 schedule and if so can someone post it. Iam Interested in seeing who is going to give them trouble his year.

Heard from a friend in the know that BW hired anew OC to run the offense. No other than BW himself will be calling the plays. So it looks like the Umberg coach that verbally attacked a player’s reputation has been reprimanded and demoted.

Those were two really good Highlands teams.

Well everything that you are stating about Jr Football league maybe true now but it took 5 years for him to get involved. To me and a lot of others, he’s 5 yrs late.

This could be said for almost everyone that has watched Highlands over the years. Highlands was the leader of the pack back then. Goes all the way back to Homer Rice when Highlands started winning recognized state championships. Rice's teaching, training and implementing of the game of football was heads above everyone else. That continued with every head coach at Highlands throughout the years until a coach didn't keep the program ahead of the pack and others caught up. Changes were made. Dale took it to a whole new level as his results speak for themselves. He used to yearly have other coaches from both high school and college programs come to Highlands to see what all the fuss was and how and why was he so successful. These coaches used to laugh at the weight facilities at Highlands. They were, lets say less than par. Dale kept Highlands ahead of the pack by his knowledge, teaching, and you know what, his mind games he used to play against anyone who would listen. How many times over the years did you hear Dale say, "fastest, greatest, strongest, smartest, best looking", ........add adjective here and he said it. He made it a point to let everyone in NKY, Ky., and the Tri-State know about his teams. That was one of his ways of keeping ahead of the competition. There was even a little ceremony when he was inducted to the Hall of Fame that, well was a motivator for the years to come for Dale. Lol! So here we are. Season 7 and still looking for reasons on why BW should stay. What has he done to keep Highlands ahead of the competition? I'm sure there may be something but for the life of me, I can't think of any at the moment. I know he has been given access to incredible indoor facilities for one. And FTIS continue to attract top students academically so numbers shouldn't be down. FTIS also has had it's largest boom in class size the past few years as well. So whats up? You know, sometimes things become stagnant and a change is needed. Why is that such a big deal? #makethechange

Early in the thread, a questioned was asked "why would BW even want to coach Highlands at this point?" Not sure anyone answered that. I guess the question needs to be what are the reasons for keeping BW as head coach? 98.3% of people will respond with the easy answer of he guided Highlands to a state title in 2014. Ok, so when does a state title start to lose any weight in the reason he is retained? #makethechange

I woke up this morning to an interesting text. Anyway....is there a chance that the kids involved that have been mentioned are moving to another “Boone” Cty school because their parent/s were offered a job coaching or even teaching? Again, asking for a friend?

Wait...if a person lives in Gettysburg Apts in Ft Thomas, can their children go to Highlands for high school? Asking for a friend!

So from what I’m hearing and gathering, there is not going to be a coaching change due to no money or positions available in the FTIS. If a new coach was to be hired, he/she would have to do something in the district whether pushing a broom or teaching or changing light bulbs. But the is no money available in the FTIS. So with the fact there is no money or open positions, looks like it’s same ole same ole. Looking forward to @HighlandsFB tweet in Aug about how Highlands is ranked 2nd, err 3rd, err 4th in country in wins and 1st, err 2nd, err 3rd in Ky in wins. Let’s hang our hat on that one! #makethechange

To be fair, some kids are not continuing to play football or even stay at Highlands after freshmen year. Now reasons behind them choosing to do so are many but coaching has contributed to those reasons. I, like many others, just feel like it’s time. It has happened in other sports at Highlands over the last 10 or so years, and yes over wins/loses and disconnect with players and community. #makethechange

Whew! Just read through the thread after getting back in town from work road trip. Got word from couple fella BGP'ers to check it out asap. Very interesting to say the least. I do notice that there are very few "old timers" on here posting. They may be reading, but not posting. That imo, speaks volumes. I take that as they are just over it already. I think they see that its going to stay status quo! So why bother. I remember going to BW's introduction as head coach. And I can tell you each and every BGP member that I know that gives a hoot about Highlands was there in support of him. It was a special night for him. From there, he had total support of the community. 6 seasons later, that support has waned a bit. Quite a bit actually. And why is that such a big deal to people. Are supporters not allowed to change their minds on someone as their leader or coach. Sometimes it's just time to go. It's not that BW isn't a great defensive mind, he is and I think it definitely showed when he was 100% in that role in years past. Imo, he just doesn't fit the head coaching role. And that's fine. Isn't it? I mean what am I missing. Some people aren't made to be "that" coach. Some are. There's nothing wrong with that. If it's me and I am in that position, I think I would have to make a change. Maybe not but would have to think long and hard about it. Especially when I don't have the support needed to be in that position. But maybe he has thought about it and feels he can turn the program around. And yes, it does need turning around. Several players have left or decided to not play football over the past 4/5 years all due to comments from coaches, atmosphere around program, and essentially looking to play on a team that they feel has a chance to win whether at Highlands or at another school. Highlands lost 2 stud Qb's because of this. Ok, maybe just 2 Qb's, but those two themselves could have allowed 2 others that played QB to play other positions that would have helped the team. Add in a few more "other" sport stars, and you have a recipe for scrambling to find high quality players to replace them. And yes, that goes with the argument that the talent just isn't there. That logic would be correct if it wasn't for the reasons that these kids left the program. That falls on the coaching staff not being able to retain their players. I think a lot has been covered in this thread so far. There are people on here with info that just won't be shared. They didn't start the thread, just giving some insight as much as they can. A lot can not be shared on here. That's where being on the outside is frustrating and you just don't get it. My narcissism is kicking in!!! #makethechange
