Colonels_Wear_Blue Posted January 23, 2020 Posted January 23, 2020 I was having a conversation about NKY head coaches past & present with one of the head coaches from down a little south of Louisville, and it got me started to thinking about an overall win-loss record for coaches in the Northern Kentucky region. This is by no means all-encompassing...I still need to fill in several active coaches in the area, for starters (I know I'm at least missing the active coaches for Holmes, Bishop Brossart, Ludlow, Conner, Bellevue, Bracken County, Pendleton County, Gallatin County, Campbell County, Grant County and Carroll County...maybe another one or two as well.) Anyone's welcome to help fill in a little history for anyone else that they know of. For what it's worth, the records include wins from Kentucky programs only. Among others already on the list, Owen Hauck, Bernie Barre, Steve Rasso, Dave Wirth, Dave Brossart and Dale Mueller all had wins as head coach for high school programs outside of Kentucky.

Colonels_Wear_Blue Posted January 23, 2020 Author Posted January 23, 2020 I believe Bob Burnett spent several years as HC for Dixie Heights. I didn't follow Dixie much until closer to my high school days in the 90s. Never realized he coached there, but he was the Colonels' head coach from 1978-1990. It looks like Burnett had a 74-61 record in his 13 seasons as head coach at Dixie.

Dave Browing coached Dixie Heights from 1970-1975 and again from 1991-1994. He was 56-47-1 at Dixie in his 10 years as head coach there. After he left Dixie the first time he was out of coaching for 2 years and then started the football program at Scott High School in the 1978 season. I'm working on figuring out how long he coached at Scott, what his record was, and whether or not he was head coach anywhere else between his two tenures at Dixie. Tom Spritzky coached Dixie Heights from 1995-2011 and was 107-86 in his 17 years as head coach for the Colonels.
Colonels_Wear_Blue Posted January 23, 2020 Author Posted January 23, 2020 Mike Murphy was head coach at Highlands from 1967-1973 and had a 66-12-1, including undefeated state championships in 1968 and 1970. In 1974 Mike took over as head coach at Newport High School and was 88-55-1 in 12 years as head coach for the Wildcats. Career as head coach 154-67-2.
Ironlung Posted January 23, 2020 Posted January 23, 2020 Bruce Kozerski is actually 1-0 in state title games. It's reversed on the chart.

Sweeperboy Posted January 23, 2020 Posted January 23, 2020 Lynn Rays perfect 5-0 State Championship record sticks out to me and is impressive imo.
Sweeperboy Posted January 23, 2020 Posted January 23, 2020 As well as Bob Schneider most wins ever by a coach but also most losses ever by a coach. These numbers are a state record in KY right? Wow, a lot of opportunities missed over the years with incredible talent imo.
