  1. Cool Picture, where did you get that?????:thumb:
  2. May have to get it repaired, it broke before the players got to the sideline with it  But it sure is "shiny and real pretty" quote from Jaggers.
  3. Mercer Quarterback Booster Club had a design logos prepared knowing we would either be State Champs or Runner Ups and waited for the outcome - those shirts were printed right after the game in Louisville and available for sale that night in Harrodsburg at the reception. I have no idea where the other shirts came from, someone said KHSAA, Vendors at the stadium also had posters and key chains for sale that were nice and even had the scores on them but Mercer Boosters/Parents did not print anything prior to game completion. Someone saw a screen printing press operation there at Papa John's???
  4. Late confusion, it is Mercer County Senior High, not Central, but is considered the main campus. There has been discussion on the name of the new school when built but I don't recall what it was, doesn't matter. We have Moberly Road Campus and E. Lexington campus where students attend both places based on their academic schedules. Congratulations Titans and Russell you played a very good game. Remember, players from Russell and Mercer read these posts too!
  5. Mercer Central High School gets the trophy! It will be put in the trophy case at the new high school when they are finished with it. For right now it will be in our new sports complex PROUDLY displayed.
  6. All of you all get on here and talk about how big Mercer's numbers are and how many kids and how its not fair but if you look in the program and the number of kids enrolled at each 2a school that competed today Mercer is up on Russel by 30! Thats not very many at all. So I dont want to here that its not fair we were to big of a school to play in 2a and all this other garbage.
  7. Word came tonight to the boys, heading out around 7:45 to 8:00 a.m. Friday from the Sports Complex. Pep Rally is Tuesday night 6:30 at the football field. They may have updates on the teams website this week too http://www.mercertitans.com :thumb:
  8. Reading all these posts talking so negative about our team makes me angry too. What about our Seniors? 22 of them, Mercer County Titans. 17 and 18 year old boys who have played opposite each other since what, 2nd grade and all of a sudden are thrown into being on the same side of the field? July 15th we became the Titans. Just over 4 months these boys have been together as one team. It was a make or break situation for our community. Our seniors have worked hard too, they have made sacrifices unselfishly for the team, all of them have, coaches too. What is really a shame is that you posters can't accept the fact that we did overcome adversity and rose to the occassion. We are in a darned if we do darned if we don't situation. If we WIN it's because "we are in the wrong class" (posters said it not me)and if we LOSE everyone will scream "with all that talent there is no excuse". Win or lose, I am proud of the Titans and how they have brought a once separated community together again - that's better than any trophy! Good Luck Red Devils, we'll see you on Friday.
  9. Don't you think going 14-0 and the possibilty of winning a state championship is a pretty darn good "last hurrah"? Ask any of the players - they'd take it any day. They just want to play football for a winning program with a great coaching staff. What a way to end the year for our 22 seniors.
  10. No details yet, sometime Friday morning I would assume. We'll keep you posted.
  11. The Harrodsburg Board of Education dissolved, they ceased to exist as of July 15th by their choice and by Mercer's Board accepting them. Not a sports decision but the change happened, KHSAA made their decision, new topic. And who would have coached the Harrodsburg Team? Their Football Coach is the district wide AD for Mercer. So then the students would be together for classes and not together in sports? Doesn't make sense. Poor Horse:cry: I don't think the Harrodsburg Board of Education gave one moment of a thought to wait until the football system is reclassed, they really didn't care and that would have no bearing whatsoever on their decision. They were worried about the future and the future for the students.
  12. It is also my understanding that the state monies Mercer was to receive for construction of the new HS size, etc. is based on current enrollment, not on anticipated growth, so the school would have been built to house what students were currently at Mercer and no room in the future if merge took place later. By joining the schools when they did, they are now able to receive the funds necessary and prepare for the enrollment and size they will need for the new school. If they had gone ahead without merging, and decided to later - the school would not be large enought to accomodate all students. Rushed decision, maybe just a good plan for the future. Wise choice to make, somewhat in a hurry, which I seriously questioned. After being with this football team, and around in the community - this has been one remarkable experience - a definite plus in all areas academics, band, little league football, volleyball, soccer etc.
  13. Do you have a child who is a student in the Mercer County School System? Where do you get your information regarding they are not in the same school? My son has class with students from both the Mercer(Moberly Rd.) and Harrodsburg(East Lexington) campus. He also has the option to go to Harrodsburg's Campus for any class he needs, he originally was a Mercer student bc (before consolidation). So how do you know and I quote you "they DO NOT GO TO THE SAME SCHOOL!!!!"
  14. Hey Joe and CW is the horse dead yet? Been beat a lot in this thread, huh? I believe the REAL question was how much the Harrodsburg players have brought to the Titans. Talent, experience and yes speed. Mercer was strong last year, and would have been strong this year too, but with Harrodsburg influx the have been able to aquire a real life experience with the merger that is priceless. The players are stronger for going through it and have taught the adults much. Facts of academics, what is best for the children? Harrodsburg students are now able to take classes that were not available on their campus. Classes that aren't in the right block at Mercer can be taken at Harrodsburg. More options, variety and versatility to offer the best for all of the students, I don't have a problem with that. I also don't have a problem of being 14-0 in football either!
  15. It will be a good game between MERCER County vs. Russell. The MERCER school system is sure to bring plenty of busses and fans. As for friction, maybe here on the BGP Boards between a few posts, kids and parents have been having a good ole time. The football players from MERGER County as you like to call it have set an example for the entire community to follow. I am very proud of the accomplishments they have made on and off the field. I think the MERGER has made them a stronger team it is a very special and talented group of players. The coaching staff is awesome! 14-0, and all we need is one more game. Coach Jaggers was quoted on his radio show as saying in the movie Remember the Titans, the team was perfect at 13-0, the Titans have an opportunity to be perfect + 2. That would be unbelievable for this community. Go Titans, we will be there to support you, good luck to Russell - see you on Friday morning.
  16. No phenomena here, what are you talking about? Just some good ole boys who are enjoying playing some football together for a change. So sorry you feel the need to pull for a private school. We'll be on the MCSH side cheering on our boys. Drive careful getting here, see you Friday from the other side
  17. And 64 on OC varsity roster, we have 68 on ours... Besides the numbers game - I do agree with you it is about coaching too. We have been fortunate with the talented, experienced coaches we have at Mercer. Good luck OC, be careful travelling here. See you on Friday.:thumb:
  18. I'm tired of hearing about numbers too - varsity has 68 players on the roster - who doesn't want to be a part of a winning program (last year they were very successful BEFORE the merge). Doesn't everyone like to win? Another huge factor: Coaching staff and take a look at our sports facility, locker rooms, indoor turf practice field, indoor track, weightroom, awesome uniforms, training rooms - it's enough to make me want to play! So, now - why do we have so many kids playing?
  19. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: to Joedirt and Coldweatherfan Mercer will prevail once again!
  20. HEY, that's my line ..."The Mighty Mighty Titans" Sorry, couldn't get online last night, too much celebrating going on! Good job coaches, awesome boys!
  21. I sure hope the weather doesn't keep the fans away, it can't dampen my spirits! Mercer Titan fans - we need your support, bundle up and come on out to cheer the Mighty Titans on to a victory.
  22. $40,000 Where did you get those numbers from???
  23. I also think the gate admission price is discussed and determined by the AD's of the 2 schools sharing the gate. The visitors have travel expenses covered too, if I'm not mistaken???
