  3. I know in the Grant County vs Pendleton Co game Saturday that Grant Counties Justin Mertz returned the opening kickoff back 86 yards for a touchdown, he almost had a punt return that he was tackled on the 5 yard line on and an interception that he toed the sideline on and stepped out at the 26 on He caught several passes as well. he performed was all over the field
  4. I think if Grant can play like they did in the scrimmages then they can win the game. But Western Hills is a better opponent than Pendleton Co. I have heard that WH had a couple of players leave the team is there any truth to this?
  5. Grant is in with Anderson,South oldham, oldham and J-town. On hte game Grant played well on defense and looked good at times on offense but too many pentalies at the wrong times. They definately looked like timing was off on the pass and ran the ball well.

  7. 7- Scott Co 5- LaSalle 3- Campbell Co 2- NCC 1- Dixie tiebreaker Scott Co
  8. SK looked very impressive, SK scored twice against Grant's # 1's and twice against the # 2's,They brought about 140 kids including freshman. Coach Marksberry has the program going in the right direction. Grant did move the ball on SK but seemed to sputter while in the red zone. Grant I believe did score once but SK did look more dominate
  9. Who all went form the 16th and how did they do?
  10. Grant County had a 16 team tournament on Saturday. Covington Holmes won in the finals beating Dayton. The tournament was ran very smooth and a lot of good teams participated.
  11. Most teams do not split the gate until the playoffs. Usually that is why most teams sign 2 year deals home one year and away the next.
  12. Who is this guy and what are his credentials. I also heard that they got rid of the assistants as well so is the new guy going to have a staff, are they going to let him hire some coaches, just curious
  13. I am not sure but I believe that a new kid on the block is coming to Grant Co. I think that Grant may still be searching for a coach. I guess maybe soon they will let everyone know what is going on.
  14. How do you think the team this year will fair against these opponents?
  15. Well after reading the post after this one I know where you were going with this one, but I guess you were wrong ? Thank goodness because from what I have heard the coach from Beechwood may be too old to bring the fire that Grant County needs to push to the next level.
  16. That is not tue, Mr. Robinson was the first choice, I believe they did offer a assistants positon to one of the applicants. Mr. Rob will do a good job and your accussation of the asst. principal wanting to bring in someone else is not true. Good luck ot the lady braves next season. I hope that the new coach puts the time in with developing the great girls he has got coming back into a much better team then this year very talented team.
  17. It should be close to time to interview, who are the names and is there an inside favorite?
  18. You can not sell them if they are paid for by the school, unless a coach has it in his contract that he gets tickets then they could be in big trouble, yes they put in long hours and deserve all the tickets they want but that is not the way it is when it comes down to the law, and to loose your job over a 5- 10 dollar profit to me doesn't seem worth it.
  19. Congrats to Matt, he does a great job and runs a very efficient game, he also has a very good crew. Northern Ky officials do a good job working on their officials to be the best and most professional I have been around.
  20. Sounds like to me that Valley couldn't play defense without fouling and Elliot knock them down when they had, congrats to Elliot keep it going for the 16th
  21. Just to set the record straight on this issue, coach kinmon did run the youth program up until this year, they had to find someone else, a board member I beleive to run the youth league for them this year. I do beleive coach kinmon did coach a team a SOAS, that his 2nd grader played on. Great dad. Ron Kinmon is a great man and a great coach. A lot of the kids in grant are involved in other things besides sports. They have a huge 4-h group and farming is still big in Grant Co. Just because kids choose not to stey involved or the parents don't do theri job as a parent is not a coaches fault. he can't help the fact that there is only one gym at the high school. they play baasketball all year in Grant, at all grade level, with traveling teams and such. People should be glad they have coaches like Ron Kinmon and Mike Davis in their school, teaching these kids about life and how to be good young men. I am pleased that my child plays sports at Grant Co. and I am very involved with my own kids, could things be better facility wise and such, I just think that Wayne Yeager showed some cowardly ways and best of luck to the next community that gets him. If you have issue you face themm like a man, not behind your pen.
  22. Randy Morris from Grant County won the 220 lbs class. He was also named best outstanding lifter from 185 and up. Congrats to this young, also to Scott Sharrock, who finished 2nd in the 235 class, these two men did a good job keep up the hard work, looks like things are moving in the right sirection at Grant. Hopefully it will pay off in the fall for them and the team.
  23. I agree rickyp, they have size and quickness, if they grow physically and put some meat on Davis, Terry and Quackenbush, those 3 can reaaly make a difference next year.. Robbiie and Gilbert may give them the minutes needed for jackson and Euton to get a little rest and be a force in the 4th quarter and in tournament play.
  24. they are going to have to go deeper than 6 to compete come tournament time. they have 2 great ball players but have they developed and used the rest of the players adequately? You need to have a go to guy but you must have a great support staff to go with them. I think they are young and will bounce back next season. they do not have any seniors, and if they hit the weight room and do well in open gym and summer ball the tide may change next season. but if they do not find people to count on to help with the load and even give jackson and euton a blow every now and then then they will be right back in the same boat next year. They looked like Boyd just wore them down and they were a gear behind in the 2nd half, sub or time out, something to get the legs back. being off for a while don't help either. I look for bright things in the future for coach Fraley and the Royals, but right now it shines on Phil Pratt and Boyd Co. Good win and good luck in regionals, better take it in the finals of district, keep the ball rollin.
