My high school career ended in that stadium as well. Nice venue. Lots of history. Glad to hear its getting a facelift. Hopefully the program can rise back up too. I know if I was a former Admiral I would be extremely disappointed in the current state of the program.

Cards played tough for 2.5 quarters. PT just had too many horses. The most impressive thing to me was their organic pass rush. Mayfield was going to have to sprinkle in some deep shots (PT played alot of 1 and/or zero coverage), but the QB didn't have time to throw because of the pressure. After that game, I'm not sure I see PT as a state championship caliber team. They are really talented, but still very undisciplined. I was surprised once they took a 2 score lead they didn't start trying to run the ball. But they kept passing well into the 4th quarter, and I even remember the starting QB scrambling and taking hits towards the end of the game. Just didn't seem smart to me. Mayfield certainly has some work to do. They did play hard, and had chances to stay in the game and steal the momentum, but they couldn't ever capitalize. This is a young team, game rep and leadership wise, and they will continue to get better each week. I think their defense is pretty darn good. Outside of the run game, offensively they are pretty bad. And that seems to be their biggest hiccup right now. Ball security has been an issue as well. The schedule gets more manageable moving forward. I'm hoping to see improvement each week.

Seems to me every team on PT's schedule is playing for respect, at best. Play hard, compete, keep it respectable. Hopefully Mayfield can move the chains, chew clock, and keep the ball away from PT enough to prevent a track meet. Not sure how anyone other than a final four 4A team is going to have a shot at beating PT. Will def be at the game Friday night, and I hope to be shocked.

I think that's an accurate assessment. I could see Graves hitting some big plays and scoring some points, but can they slow down PT?? Not so sure. We will find out today.

Not sure what to expect out of the Cards. I think they win. Just ready to see them play a more complete, clean game than they did last week. Other than a couple long TD passes, I thought their defense made Graves earn points. Offensively, their line has to do a better job blocking. Pass blocking was ok, because almost every throw was quick. Run blocking left a lot to be desired. I have no clue what Hoptown is bringing to the table.

Acree may very well have the fastest 40 time of anybody in that game. Don’t know who the other guy is. Will be ready to see what Graves does this week against PT. Certainly more anticipation than any matchup these two have had in awhile.

A turnover with less than three minutes left was the deciding factor that prevented overtime. So I can't relate to your description of the game where you think Graves dominated and the only thing that slowed them down was cramps. Both teams had a chance at the end, right?

I was thinking more like a 6-4 Graves, or a 5-5 split. Somewhere around there. No way Mayfield would win 8 out of 10.

Graves - Was obviously impressed with their QB. Made a bunch of nice throws. Looked comfortable in the pocket, and made plays with his legs when things broke down. O-Line gave him time for the most part. WR core made some really catch and runs. As a whole, they looked confident and possessed the momentum for the majority of the game. I would think moving forward they need to find a way to run the ball. Being one dimensional can catch up with you. I'm sure some Owensboro peeps had their eyebrows up after seeing the final score. Gonna be a fun 5-A, district 1 race. Even if you are a Mayfield fan, its hard not to be happy for those Graves kids. They earned it. Mayfield - I think the biggest thing I noticed watching the game is that they looked rudderless at times. No clearly defined leaders helping everyone get settled in, or stepping up to make a big play. Less than desirable body language. I was pleasantly surprised with QB play, considering he is a first time starter. Would like to see Mayfield run the ball more effectively to take some pressure off of him. Defense was great at times, but had too many lapses. Too many times they got out of rush lanes on pass plays and the QB made them pay with his legs. All in all, with so many new faces at key positions, I thought Mayfield showed promise. And seeing how many lapses they had, and still had the ball at the end with a chance to win tells me this team is going to be pretty darn good when its all said and done. I don't know why games like this bring out the worst in people, but I have already heard some Mayfield fans complaining saying the better team lost. Graves earned it, so some humble pie is in order. Then I get on here and I'm reading where if this game was played 10 times, Graves would win 8. That opinion gleaned from a one score game where both teams had the ball at the end with a chance to win it.

Graves has to feel good. Their center needs to get that snap down. It’s been consistently high and throwing off play timing. Mayfield has thrown the ball way more than I thought. I’d like to see the ground game get going. Big second half. Mayfield 28-21.

Ian Williams getting called for 15 yard penalty after the big hit was questionable. Led to a Graves TD. Graves playing with more pep. Mayfield had some dropped passes, and some lapses in coverage that are the difference. And Graves QB making plays with his legs.

I agree Mayfield secondary has a couple new starters on the back end. I assume Graves would attack them for sure. Also think Graves stacks the box and dares Mayfield to throw the ball. We shall see.

I can't remember the last time I thought Graves genuinely had a chance to win this rivalry game, but I think they do this year. Not a fan of Graves' stadium. Visitor bleachers are too small. Home bleachers are only big enough for Graves fans. That leaves standing on the track with limited view, so I will be watching on YouTube.

I was there. Thought Mayfield played better the first half, Owensboro the second. But both lack offensive firepower at this point. Would think Boyle would be head and shoulders above these two right now.
