The nuns own the land and lease the field to the City for $1 per year. The City (Wayne and Tim Reese) takes care and pride in that field. The Villa coaches (Meier and Ringo in particular and now Welte) and players contribute as well. Ultimately, it was a great team effort between public and private working together for the betterment of the community.

Runyan found a way to win every year when he was there. The talent that comes from Bellevue is there. With Sanders, I worry about the young pitchers and their arms get injured by overuse.

All three Noll girls played - they were good. The coach is not always wrong when people quit. What kind of season would have been if Behrens did not "transfer" to Boone?

Rob had a pretty good track record of wins for 10 years, including the District titles, All "A" Classic wins, and consistent regional play.

Getting to prom may have been a problem, try playing the day after.

Need to include the '63 team, did they not win state with Jon Draud, etal?

Where does Maile's loyalty lie - CCH, ND, or Holy Cross. Cory Miller is the next coach anyway.

Like I've said in all along...it all starts at the top.

I remember when we played down there...it is a nice facility. Does the 10th Region rotate or is it always at HC the years they host?

Does HC meet all the state specs for semi-finals - tarps, distance of backstop and outfield fence, etc? How far is left field?

Be proud of your program and success. You should be, especially if you were one that worked to get it, or sustain it, at that level. Lots of programs, in baseball or other sports, around the state rival HC's success, alumni dedication, and fan support, but it's how you win that counts. IMO - I just have seen better class.

To address all the other threads that have been locked or closed with HC, the arrogance starts at the top!!!!

Did their seniors leave, walk, get kicked off? Not sure about the true story, heard the seniors left the club in some manner?

Our prayers and concerns are with the Ryle community and Cooper family. Hopefully, Dustin is okay. Please post an update when we know something concrete.

Very well pitched game by both pitchers. St. Henry got some big two out knocks in the 3rd to take the lead and in the 7th to put the game away. Congrats to St. Hanks, best of luck in the next round. Congrats to Villa - if nothing else, this game proved they belonged. Today, they were beat by a very solid St. Henry ballclub.:ylsuper:

Best 9 make it - period. Now with that said, I think coaches vote on who stood out when they played against that player. Chances are, you did not get to see everyone that was nominated. At that point, you have to either go on the stats in the paper or popularity. Winning the All A State Title nails down the popularity. If you don't see BW, you certainly read about them.

BTW - Yeagle was Head Baseball Coach in the mid-90s for BW and they made the Regional Finals a couple of years in a row with List and Frohmeyer on the hill. I would be hard pressed to believe that they didn't care. But shame on the BW Boosters and Administration if they spend it all on football. Myerhoff just took them to another level, and now their consistent.
