Say, if a player is stealing and the base gets knocked out of place up and he slides off the bag, is he out or safe?

I know that was a bad situation ,,(I saw it), but the same argument could have been made had the runner been holding the loosened base 3 or 4 feet from where it should have been (you're still in contact with the base, but the base is 3 or 4 feet from where it should have been..). It was a bad situation, but a call has to be made. I'm not sure that equipment interference applies here. Tough call!!

In Knothole, you slide to where the bag should be.I'm pretty sure it's the same call in High School.

If the base becomes dislodged, most Umpires would not call a runner out.

Yup, I've seen it happen a handful of times, and never have I seen an ump call the runner out.

As long as the player is in the area of where the base is supposed to be, he will not be called out.

Our coaches always said if a base get dislodge lay out on the ground in an ex near where the base was. Most umps give a runner a lot of leeway when it comes to runners and where a base "should be"
