With the 9th region tourney next week who do you all think will win, who might be the sleeper team that could suprise some people?

I like Beechwood...obvioulsy, but I think any of the top four teams all have an equal chance to win. CCH is hitting the ball good, they just need a couple good outings by their pitchers. Ryle is playing great ball now, and Beechwood just has everything going for them. It should be a great tourney.

1- Ryle - 12 straight wins

2-St. Hanks- beat Beechwood and Cov Cath recently

3-Beechwood

4-New Cath

5-Cov Cath

 

In a one game season looks like Herbstreet? could challange anyone for Villa

i think that ryle and st henry have to have the best pitching ryle with hughes, hump, and hatfield and st henry with ryan, shanks, and gillcrist but you can never take out beechwood with moore and curley. should be fun to watch

No sleeper will win the Ninth Region. Any of the of the group except for HHS, Lloyd and Villa have a legitimate chance to win it, with Beechwood leading the way and NCC on the down side of the other five, and it would not be a surprise to me at all.

 

While the old story is true about having to play everybody to win, the teams that draw either Villa, or Lloyd will have a HUGE advantage going into round two..... This years draw will make or break someone, trust me...

 

BTW where, and when is the draw? I understand all the home teams will be playing at home (except for BW game which will be played at NKU) but will they all start at the same time, or will they be staggered, so baseball fans can see more than one game on Monday?

The draw is Sunday at 1:00 at Boone County. I do hope they stagger the games so we can see them all, but I doubt they will.

The power hiters for BW can hit it out just about anywhere, but they have more speed than power, so those huge gaps will do better for them than the long ball.

I agree...what does Bob have to do down there to get some funding for baseball, in the world?

I recall last year Newport playing at Beechwood in the regionals it was so small and no place to sit

There is nothing he can do, they just dont care about anything but football, which is sad because they have had good baseball since Bob has been there, and they deserve it. They have tryed to get some money for the team, last year a parent would bring her own cooler, and sold pop and candy out of it, and tryed to charge to get in but the school just wont let them.

Yup the only thing good about playing at BW is that you get to walk by the football field.... :rolleyes: :irked:

Starting on Tuesday May 30th the 9th Region will start playing their second round championship games at Champion Windows Field (aka Florence Freedom). This is such great news not only for the kids and the teams but also the fans of high school baseball in Northern Kentucky. With Baseball now playing a such a great site, and Basketball soon to be playing at the Bank of Kentucky Arena at NKU, we in Northern Kentucky will finally have what most of the rest of the Commonwealth have had for years....

My favorite in the 9th has to be Beechwood, I mean they have way to much firepower with Sawyer and Curley and Muth, there pitching is lacking a little bit but I think their offense will make up for that. I also look for St. Henry or Ryle to make a run. I dont think CCH really has the pitching right now to take the title.
