Panthers improve to 7-1 with today’s win. Back on the road on Wednesday night at Carroll County.

The Lady Panthers even their record at 4-4 with a win over county/district Bracken County, snapping a 5 game winning streak for the Lady Bears.

Augusta bounces back from their 1st loss at Boone County Tuesday night (79-72) with a road win over Bracken County. Kylan Hinson poured in 24 points to lead the Panthers and was joined in double digits by Conner Snapp with 15 and Noland Young with 11 off the bench. The 6-1 Panthers host Anderson County tomorrow afternoon, scheduled start time is 2:30.

Panthers improve to 5-0 with a comeback win. Green County led 61-54 going into the 4th quarter and the Panthers turned the tables and held on for the victory. Kylan Hinson, player of the game, led with 22 points. Keeton Bach dropped in 19, Conner Snapp, 12 and Noland Young with 10 points off the bench. The Panthers have a busy week coming up with a trip to Boone County on Tuesday, Bracken County on Friday and back home to face Anderson County on Saturday afternoon.

The Panthers improve to 4-0 for the first time since they started 7-0 in the 2014-15 season. Kylan Hinson led all scorers with 23 points and was joined in double figures by Devante Jefferson with 17, Keeton Bach with 16 and Conner Snapp with 13. The Panthers face Green County at the Mike Murphy Classic in Maysville on Saturday afternoon at 2:30.

Legend is the best word I can come up with that describes Billy Hicks. You went to the Sweet 16 games for his talented teams but you stayed for his sideline animation. High school basketball in KY would not have been the same without Coach Hicks. RIP. Prayers to his family, friends, coaches, players, students and fans.

Panthers all over Black Devils from the start. Kylan Hinson scored his 1,000th point and grabbed his 500th rebound in the win. Augusta is back in action tomorrow night at home vs. St. Patrick.

I always get mine at the Speedway at the AA/68 intersection in Maysville. I’d say by next week they should have them. Walmart and Kroger get them eventually or in other words, way too late.

I was told it takes up to a month and that’s still 7 days away.

A handful of Ky boys and girls teams make the trip to Knightstown, IN to play in the Hoosiers gym in January I believe. Haven’t been before but from the pictures it looks like a great experience.

It appears it’s become less of a hiring process and more of an asking process. Sad to see this happen to a proud program. They need to find someone that’s willing to stay there for awhile and build the program. A one and done would put them in the same boat this time next year.

So now getting back to the purpose of this thread, a job opening. Who takes over at Bracken County? It appears it’ll be a job that typically goes to a young coach looking to lead a program for the first time.

I’ll just say this, when 50ppg comes knocking on your door it’s going to be awfully hard to not let them in.

That’s 50 straight wins in the 10th region for GRC. Good luck to the defending state champion, bring another one home. Congrats on a fine season for Mason County as well. Both squads are hit hard by graduation, losing four starters each. So, could it be two new teams battling for this crown next year? Don’t count either team out too soon!!

Credit to Mason County tonight. They showed up and took it to the Panthers immediately. Augusta did not have any answers tonight. Hopefully the region draw is good to us and we get a chance to turn things around and not just be one and done.

I’ll take a bag of popcorn at the Augusta broadcast table tonight. Worth a try.

Many say a rivalry is only a rivalry if it’s nip and tuck over time. I disagree. The all time series between Augusta and Bracken County/Brooksville is lopsided by a lot. But, the attention the games get when the teams get together tell you it’s a rivalry. Generations of former players and fans get all fired up when the games are played. For example, when I was in hs, my parents only had one question when the schedule came out, “When do you play Bracken County?”

As a 30+ year Eagles fan it’s a pretty disappointing way to end a dream season. The defense that played so well all season just didn’t get it done in the second half. I kept hoping for an interception or a fumble recovery that would change our fortunes in the second half but none ever came. The “let ‘em play” attitude took an abrupt turn with Bradberry’s holding penalty. You didn’t call it earlier in the game, why now? In the most critical time. People love games with little to no penalties and that’s pretty much what we got in this one and it’s what we saw for the most part in these playoffs. But once again, late in the game, the Chiefs are the beneficiaries of a flag thrown or not thrown. Now, that flag being thrown didn’t beat us. Giving up two WIDE OPEN tds on the same play is what gets you beat. What makes that worse is that Jacksonville scored on the same play months ago against us. I could go on and on about the lack of adjustments in the second half but that just makes me angrier. Instead I’ll just end on a happy note. We have a very good franchise qb in Jalen Hurts. He’s a calm, cool leader that will bounce back from this. He’s a top 5 quarterback that will keep Philly relevant for years to come. Go Birds!! One more thing, thanks if you’re still reading, I’ll never believe the NFL is rigged. Just too many people to keep quiet. Dirty maybe, just not rigged.

Augusta trails for most of the first 3 quarters but starts the 4th with a 9-0 run to take the lead for good. The Colonels would cut the deficit to 3 on multiple occasions but the Panthers had an answer each time. Kylan Hinson leads the way with 28 points, Conner Snapp finished with 17 and LJ Conner added 14. Will Kelsch rounded out the scoring with 7. Augusta’s 4th win in a row improves them to 15-12. Their final regular season game will be on Monday at home against Ludlow. Augusta will face St. Patrick in the 39th district tournament on the 21st.
